Longest tennis match ever

Just caught the tail end of this story on the news. A match at Wimbledon is going into it's third day with the players tied at 59-59 in the deciding set!:w00t:

Unbelievable, I just caught the end of it on the news, one of the players looked sick of his life in the interview :w00t:

Apparently one of them is set to play in a doubles match later tomorrow after this game resumes tomorrow afternoon. I wouldn't be too happy if I were his doubles partner.

Every so often in sports, we see things that qualify as "once in a lifetime" occurrences. I feel like this is one of those things. I can honestly say I've never, ever seen anything like this.

The only part about this match That I don't like is that it keeps on getting broken up due to light conditions, giving each player enough time to regroup and re-energize for the next day. I was watching a little today and got bored with it because neither man could win a game when having to return serve. I guarantee that the first to win a game while returning serve will win the match. The question is, how much longer will that take to happen?

This... this is epic! And in a day and age when the word "epic" is overused, well, this truly deserves that adjective.

I'd like to see both of them win, if it were possible.

So how many did that set go? Last update I heard was 59-59.

Whoops...saw the spoiler alert. Insane. Too bad it was a first-round match and not a final.

So the "winner" Isner had to play his next match the very next day and lost in just over an hour ... apparently and understandably he was totally exhausted.

Beats the hell out of penalty kicks.

They'd have spent more time trying to kick the tennis ball over the net. :bored:
