I have fairly hard water but, surprisingly based on what I had read, I had no problems at all producing wonderful lather with Cade (using either a 21mm-knot Omega boar [10065] or a Muhle HJM black fibre brush, and face lathering). It works for me starting out with either a very wet brush or a merely damp brush. I don't even have to pre-wet the puck's surface. I've read that some people consider Cade to be drying, but I find it to be a very thirsty soap, like Tabac. I gradually but frequently add water while loading and face lathering by wetting the tips of the brush, and the resulting lather is rich, protective, stable, and moisturizing. btw, I have two extra pucks (to save on shipping costs), if anyone is interested.
Great soap and ultra cool dish. I have a fairly new puck in my dish with a replacement waiting in the wings. The Cade AS balm is one of the best for soothing and moisturizing as well. I'd put the balm in my top three for sure.

L´Occitane is really a great soap! What´s the price in the USA? In Germany you pay approx. 15$ for a refill and 32$ for the soap in the bowl.
The AS Balm is excellent and pairs up nicely with the soap. I use it a lot over the winter.
I'm a big fan of the Cade scent. I used it exclusively for at least a year. The was before there was B&B. When you get the lather right it's quite good though perhaps not up to the very best.
