Little Score, Thanks Dad

Went to a couple of flea markets today, and came up empty handed. My dad called needed a little tech support to get his roku box back online and after finding out he entered 9 "0's" instead of 8 for his password, he was back online.

When i was about to head out he asked how big is a puck of shaving soap, using the best and most accurate measuring tool i had at the moment i placed my thumbs and fingers together "about this big", "thats what i thought" he said to me leaving the room, and when he returned he gave me this,... just the right size for a puck of MWF and easy enough to grate other soaps into

not to everyones tastes im sure but i like it, not sure about year on it but i dont care anyway as it was a gift from dad for this little hobby of mine, well done dad, well done

I thought so as well, he deals in antiques, and never finds any good shaving stuff... though this not really a shave related item sure fits int he den well enough lol

was a great surprise for sure, I love the artwork in it as well
not sure it shows up well but the gold inlaying is nice as well,... since my favourite soaps are all in their wooden bowls or metal tins, ill have to find something to put into it, but i have an idea as to what may make it in this little bowl yet

an ebay search showed matching plates and other dinnerware one listing said it weas later then 1940 but not much more then that, was probably used for butter or for serving jams or something along those lines either way i like it

That's a really neat bowl! Little finds like that are one of the fun aspects of this hobby that the canned goo guys miss out on. It's especially neat that your dad though of your hobby when he saw it.

My old man is one cool guy for sure, I tried to drag him down this road with me lol, but he likes his electric's and has been using them for a long time.
but gave me a fiar chance with it, but he loves antiques and vintage stuff and still thinks all this is cool as heck

he winters in florida so we do christmas in july with him and family, got to tell you at 32 christmas is more about family time and the dinner now then about the gifts but if he is thinking about me and this stuff im kind of curious what he has for me this year lmao

James:
