List Your RAD Killers

What razor has ended it, or at least slowed it down, for you?

For me it was the EJ DE89...stopped my RAD in its tracks!

Ivory handled version of the EJ for me. Haven't looked at another razor since and my fairly large collection of razors is getting very dusty.

me too, love my ej/de89. but i still look for new things, now m looking for a injector , i keep hearing they shave great.

They do but you need te patience of a Saint to put up with the crappy injector system.

I haven't found my RAD killer yet and I doubt I ever will. There's always another razor out there that I want to own and try.

The thing that slowed me to a full stop in the DE world is a Gillette NEW with BullMastiff handle by Cooncatbob. I probably tried 8 different heads for the NEW, I kept finding different models... I picked a British NEW in the end.

then, I moved into straights and sold all my DEs

Seemed to slow a bit when i picked up a merkur hd, which shaves me superbly, though if something came up.....................

You don't have any safety razors at all?
I want to make the move soon, but will still keep a few for quick shaves.
Speaking of which, GEM was my safety razor AD killer.
Of course I wanted to try them all too, but there's only about 10 different types. They only cost spare change to buy them and they are everywhere, unlike most DE these days.
Once I switched to GEMs and bought a bunch for $5 or less each( 1912 x 3, 1914, 1924, MM OC, MM clog-pruf; all for under the price of one HD rocket), I never bothered hunting, collecting or spending money on more DE razors.

CoonCat Bob Bull Mastiff Deluxe handle, as well, with a NEW short combs head. Since this purchase I just don't spend the time looking at ebay and B/S/T that I used to.

A Merkur 34G. It was in my rotation from the beginning, but when I decided to change my razor/blade rotation from every 2 shaves to every 2 weeks, the Merkur's 2 weeks turned into 5 months and counting. I had my RAD killer all along and didn't know it.

My first DE was the one I got 30 years ago, and which I returned to recently: a long-handle super adjustable. I figured if I can adjust it, it should cover all my needs, making all other razors superfluous. My RAD started when I went on the hunt for similar DEs for my son and another friend. Within a month I had accumulated three SAs, and a Slim. From a relative I acquired a 40s style SS, and I picked a cheap flair tip SS. My rationale for all these: I needed something light for gym/travel, some to pass along, and some backups in case of failure.

I was still curious to try the DE89, so that's on my Christmas list. I'm expecting it to stop my RAD. But while waiting, my curiosity was piqued to try a 3-piece. So I picked up an Old, New, and Tech for only a dollar or two apiece. No question about it, that Old Type was a quantum leap. It alone would probably stop my RAD, but the DE89 is still on its way from my daughter.

All told, I don't feel too bad: I've gone from one razor to nine, for only $20.

The EJ89L has stopped me buying razors for now, largely because I want another razor with the same head, and can't quite decide whether to buy an EJ Chatsworth, an EJ Bulbous (both in chrome), the Muhle Stylo in thuja wood, or the gold Muhle Classic with a porcelain handle.
