Lisa's Natural Herbal Creations - new formulation

Just received the Amber Tobacco, Smoked Black Tea and the Sweet Bay & Rose tubs. What an excellent top shelf soap (croap?). More of a soap. (and I have many:). The cushion, glide and scents are terrific. The lather is thick, moist and a few swirls is more than enough for a 3 pass shave. Just shaved with the Sweet Bay & Rose. Exceptional post shave feel. Complex scents, but high end thru and thru. This is a special soap and can easily be compared to iconic name brand soaps that go in the $28.00 - $40.00 range.

Her tubs are now larger and easier to navigate. I love her original formulation, so was curious about this reformulation. Worth every penny. Love this soap.

I just shaved with Smoked Black Tea this morning. I also have Amber and Tobacco, Gentleman's Lavender, and Irish Green Tweed. From a performance standpoint, they compete well with many of the better artisans soaps, but I rate Lisa's new formula as an A- with several soaps in my den rating A and A+. Originally, Lisa priced the soaps at $24, which was a little high based on the performance. The current price is $22 which is more in line.

I really like the Smoked Black Tea scent; it reminded me of a smoked country ham, yum. I also liked the Irish Green Tweed, a nice take on Creed GIT. I pick up an ammonia type smell in the Amber and Tobacco, so I allow the soap to air out a while before using it. The Gentleman's Lavender is too pungent for my nose; I can use it, but I do not enjoy it. Scents, however, are a personal thing, so your may not agree with my assessment. I am unlikely to purchase additional scents any time soon.

Total nonstarter for me if accurate. Country ham is for sandwiches, not soap IMHO. On the other hand, I am hearing good things about her Haute Leather scent.

I guess my smoked country ham description might be misleading to many readers. I grew up in Virginia and know well the wonderful aroma of a real dry-cured, hickory-smoked, country ham. Such a ham is difficult, if not impossible, to get in most of the USA. I have lived in Chicagoland for the past 19 years. One of the things I have missed about Virginia is the inability to get a decent country ham in the Midwest. However, many who have grown up in the Midwest, cannot tolerate the distinctive taste of a dry cured Virginia ham.

With Lisa's smoked black tea, the hickory smoke aroma is dominant. I get little, if any tea aroma. That is why is compared it to a smoked ham.

When I was a kid my Dad was in the Navy and we lived in the Panama Canal Zone. I always enjoyed the aroma
of fresh bread from a local bakery. Several years ago as I was going over the top of a bridge in New Orleans across the Mississippi River and the smell of the fumes from the slowing traffic reminded me of that old bakery. If only I could
find a good "bread scented soap"!

I have the Gentleman's Lavender and both scent & performance are off the charts. One of my favorite soap purchases ever

Received a couple of her soaps yesterday, Amber & Tobacco and Haute Leather. Nice packaging, nice tubs that are sealed and poured nicely and evenly. The scents are nice, not too strong out of the tubs with plenty of room to swirl and load your soap

First up was Haute Leather and though subtle from the tub it actually picked up and became more pronounced as I began building the lather. This soap just loves to have water added to it as it just builds a smooth creaminess with a rich lather that is moist and dense. Takes a bit more time to build up an amazing lather, a la Shannon’s, GD and B&M. But it’s definitely worth the extra minute to take it to where you want it to be. I like rich, creamy and dense lather with some moisture. I’m not a big fan of fluffy or airy lather.

Full bodied texture and just wonderful peaks to it. The leather with the hand lotion like scent and earthy undertones really give it a nice aroma that is both subtle and smooth. Yet it lingers nicely in the room as you work and paint the lather on. Post shave attributes are up there with some of the elite in leaving the skin hydrated, soft and supple.

The accolades and praise is very well warranted. Excellent performance, smooth and soft scents that are pleasing (Haute Leather so far) and competitive price point. Lisa’s is a top performer in my book....

Yep, Lisa makes some of my favorite soaps for the reasons listed above. I think that her base is awesome. And add to that, our noses must really be in synch, as I have never questioned her choice in scents. That almost never happens for me!

That lather does look good, thanks for the review and the photo's.

Amber and tobacco pairs nicely with Burberry London cologne.
The smoked black tea is a great scent and the performance of the new formulation is right there with DG, WK, GD, Mike’s, etc.

Another excellent performer in the LNHC Amber & Tobacco. I’m truly taken aback by this soaps ability to take water and just continue to build with the shortest amount of load time. Perhaps a 10-15 second load of the brush and maybe a minute and a half of just adding a few drops of water at a time. The lather is luscious, dense and very well hydrated. I could have added a bit more of water and I think it would have just kept going on building.

A few quick swirls in the bowl to get it started.....

About 20 seconds later after agitating and swirling the brush with a few drops of Agua....

About 40 seconds in with a few more drops of water and you can see the density and rich creaminess that is starting to build here....

Finally, after about a minute and 20 seconds this luscious and wonderful lather is ready to be painted on.....

The final look. It’s just a superb soap. I really don’t know how there are reviews out there that say the soap is not as good as the elite soaps in the business and that it leaves a lot to be desired. Loves water, builds lather like some of the best I’ve tried which includes Grooming Dept., Wholly Kaw, Declaration Grooming, Panna Crema, WSP, LPL, Shannon’s, Barrister & Mann and a few others that I can’t recall at the moment. Another thing is the post shave attributes that I get from it is on par, if not better than the ones I’ve just mentioned. Just an excellent soap that checks all the boxes for me. I know, everyone is different when it comes to what is best for them. We all have specific individual needs and tendencies that are unique to every one of us. Whether it be skin sensitivities, water hardness and ease of building a lather, which I believe is a key factor on why some individuals give up on a soap. It’s to hard, or it doesn’t build enough lather for me, used different brushes and it won’t work or whatever the reason, some have patience and some don’t. A shame really as I’ve heard individuals say even the more established or better known soap makers like those mentioned above won’t work for them either.

I know this. LNHC is the real deal. It covers the spectrum from soup to nuts on all fronts from lather, glide, protection, slickness, cushion and residual slickness. Scents are very subjective as everyone’s nose is different. Some love, some hate. Can’t do anything about that as for some the scent of a soap is part of the deal and experience in getting a great shave. So far, the scents have been great for me as well as for the Misses. In conclusion, at least for me, it takes a spot among the elite in the artisan soap makers world in my den. No questions asked.....

I have used up most of a tub and this soap is just as you say: easily the equal and in most cases better than other highly touted "exclusive" artisan soaps. I have never used a slicker soap and a mere few that even match this one. Post shave is equal to A&E which is to say simply the best. When my tub is gone I will definitely order another. :001_smile
