Lilac Vegetal for cadavers ?

Hi people.

I was researching in Amazon, and I find this interesting post of a Lilac Vegetal lover.

Quote:

"Pinaud Lilac Vegetal is a wonderful aftershave,it has an old-timey barber shop scent to it that seperates it from the rest of the pack in the scent market. As for myself I highly enjoy it,it has a lovely lilac scent but for some they may find the smell repulsive..why?well Lilac has been a popular scent in the institutional chemical industry for years-it's used in urinal cakes, you smell it strongly in nursing homes and Pinaud Lilac Vegetal used to be highly used on cadavers to cover up the smell of embalming fluids releasing from the pores.Besides that,if you like the smell of lilacs...by all means give it a try.But if you think when you put this on your'e at someone's funeral..pass it on to someone who appreciates it's classy scent:)"

I never used this essent, and the first time that I read here "I'm a Lilac Vegetarian" i tought that it was an alimentary regimen... (excuse my ignorance, and again, the pour english).

Do you know if the information posted here, is true ?, I thinks its interesting, because could explain why many people, say it dosn't like the fraggance.

Regards.

Rodolfo

I have no idea if this is true or not - could be an urban legend or internet myth. No doubt it will be the subject of an intense debate here that I would love to sell tickets to. Thanks for the post - BTW your English is just fine!

All of the old-fashioned "toilet waters" have been used by mortuary workers to help mask the smell of death and embalming fluid. The fellow I get my Kananga water and Hoyt's from tells me that his biggest customer is the proprietor of a Black funeral home. He buys Hoyt's and Florida Water by the case, which they use to wipe the body down with before dressing the cadavers in their resting suit. No spiritual mumbo jumbo attached with the practice, just a tradition here in the South.

I would imagine one could use Lime Sec to neutralise a "death-funk" also.

I wonder if that BLUE Black Magic aftershave could "wake up" the dead???

You may, if you are an astute individual, observe the implication from the quote of the OP that covering the smell of something bad would require something that smells extraordinarily good. Thus, Lilac Vegetal.

So Lilac Vegetal is used for dead folk . . . too freeking bad . . . do I need to keep away from Oak, Mahogany, brass fittings etc. too?

They used to bury the Pharaohs with everything they needed for life in the next world. What's wrong with splashing a little LV on your dearly departed so that he's smelling fine when he steps through the pearly gates?

As I said nether, I never smelled Lilac vegetal, but I remember than when I was on elementary school, the urinals has violet cakes... mmmm they smell strongly "somewhat", and pi..., but I can say it smelled really bad.

This odor, could be the smell that many refers to remember when they smell for fist time de Lilac vegetal ???
