Apologies to Tracey Thorn. The monsoons have arrived in southern New Mexico. The past three mornings, I have awakened to rainfall. This morning’s hike in Soledad Canyon was fantastic! Cool and slightly overcast with a slight breeze. The aroma was great; a combo of wet fresh dirt and slight spice. I saw some mule deer, a pair of Gambels quail, a tarantula and some cottontail rabbits. Driving home, a coyote with a rabbit in its mouth ran across the road in front of me.
