Like MacGyver

While nursing a cold, I have been watching MacGyver on Netflix. And I've got a question for all the B&Bers out there. Are there any books that each about things like survival and how to use everyday things to fix things. Such as the good folks at Art of Manilness doing a post on how to use a tampon. Not a book on sieving the end of the world, but how to survive of something happens. I know Bear Gryllis has a book. Does anyone know the name of the book and if I should buy it? Any suggestions?

Best,
Jerry

Check out the "Worst Case Scenario" series of books. Good info and entertaining as well.

"Lights Out" is a great survivalist book. It's based on some unknown event causing almost everything electrical to fail, and how everyone coped with it at the personal and community level. Lots of great ideas short and long term and enough fiction mixed in to keep it interesting. I missed a lot of sleep trying to finish it in one week.

There is one here called "SAS Survival Guide" it's quite good and has suggestions for outback survival and camp craft. Some of the old boy scout manuals are handy for mac Gyver style stuff also.

Cheers
