Lets Talk Italian Soaps

Good evening gents. We have had our French, tallow, and other various soap compendiums. How about Italianio soaps? I have just started using AOS soaps and they are one of the very BEST I have ever used. I know they are made in Italy and posited by some as made by Valobra. I don't care who makes them, they are great. So, would you chaps care to add to a list of Italian soaps and what you like/don't like about their scents, latherability, or quality overall?

AOS- Of course you know I like this one. The scents are non existent to me but I have the lavender and lemon. The essential oils clearly play some role since the colours of the soaps are slightly different. Still, it is unscented to me. The lemon seems to lather best for me but I would not wager on the differnce. Okay, someone else get to it!

Regards, Todd

I agree the AOS soaps are good - even very good. But they have an off smell that kills any enjoyment of using them for me. However, I've found the artisan tallow offerings from Prairie Creations to be superior - you should try them!

Todd, as you alluded to in your post ... Valobra! I'm talking the hard shaving stick. I give it a slight edge over AOS and I really like AOS. Valobra is very lighted scented, to my nose it smells just a touch like vanilla ice cream. This is my desert island soap.

I grabbed some Figaro on a whim while I was looking for Proraso and Floid products. It has a strong, somewhat artificial vanilla smell, but MAN - can that stuff ever lather! Probably the thickest, richest lather of the 50 or so soaps and creams I've tried.

Now this inerests me. After six or seven years of this, I have gotten to the point that I fill no real holes in my rotation. At least performance wise. Scents or other special features are what drive my curiosity now. A vanilla soap? If it is not too 'plasiticky' I would be real inerested in it.

As whosyerbob said. Try Prairie Creations fron Krissy. It is tallow based and gives a very rich lather. She has different scents and they are all good. You won't be sorry. She is in the states (you know the colonies). Just google Prairie Creations.

But I don't think her business is based in Italy and this thread is called "Let's talk Italian soaps"

Cella!

Boellis Panama 1924 is an excellent Italian soap. The scent is very mellow -- they use almond EO.

It used to be tallow but it's not anymore. Nevertheless, it's great stuff. And the block of soap is 250G  so it'll last forever. Or at least, it'll seem that way.
