What's new

Let's see your hunting hounds!

Let's see your favorite hunting companions!

Here's Shaker, my four year old German Shorthair Pointer. We adopted him from a local horse and hunt club as a started upland dog, so let's just say he outshines my wife and I out in the field and leave it at that. He has a bit of an aloof personality, but it makes him all the more endearing as he's such a sweet, gentle dog.

this is George. He's a 2.5 yo Lab mix and well, he doesn't exactly hunt. he barks at his own shadow and eats the occasional piece of poop. he also hates old men with white and/or gray hair. he's the exact opposite of a well-trained hunting dog

Here's a couple of my boy. The first is a pic of him retrieving a duck. The second is just a glamor shot in a field.:001_cool:

Abraham. He's not much of a water dog but he will search forever for a downed dove.
Execellent setter too.

He thinks he's a coon hound so don't tell him differently.

Yeah, not sure if its a pitty he's crossed with, we adopted him from a shelter. Great dog, super friendly with a fat fat head... He has some brindle in his coat that you can only see on really sunny days, we're thinking staffordshire mix?

Not a dog expert though, and hes my first dog. keeps us laughing though.

I don't have any pics of my past working dogs, but I've always had bird dogs.

My buddy, Radar. Grey Hound/Boxer mix. He prefers to hunt solo, I find about 5 or 6 dead scrub jays and mocking birds in the yard a year. He's also very adept at catching small furry critters, sadly also including ferral cats that venture into the yard. Strangely enough he doesn't look twice at my two pet rabbits! He's extremely smart, goofy, and very head strong. He just tuned 10, he was 7 when I adopted him from a friend going to Iraq and was full of bad habits. Took two years of consistant training to get his leash manners in order! Not a dog for the novice owner!

Smiling for the camera on a morning walk!

The dark spot is a shadow, he's all brindle with no white hair at all (other than aging greys around his face)

This dude loves the thought of thinly sliced cat on buttered toast and is willing to take action to achieve this. In this pic he has just had a bath and a combing session that pulled enough fur off him to knit another whole dog. We rescued him from animal services back in April. $Thanksgivings Day 005.JPG

@ Zam you have a VIZSLA thats cool ive saw a few and they are great looking dogs

Couldn't agree more! Best breed ever in my humble opinion...followed closely by Weimaraners and German Shorthairs.

Here's a few more pics of "the kids."

i can agree with that my uncle has a german short haired pointer and its the best field not a birding dog but for a roo and rabbit dog you would ever meet and its damn strong.
the Weimaraners are a very ncie dog but ive only seen a few but. i love the look of vizsla's but they are expensive
