What's new

Let's see your favorite shaving mug.

I don’t have an absolute favorite. I like something about every one of them. So I’m going to post a few of my top picks.

I use a Vintage Sears, Roebuck & Co. Catalog Ceramic Shaving Mug (I'm a 90% face latherer & 10% scuttle user), which is 3¼ inch tall and 3 inch across the top.

Also, this mug is small enough to easily fit many soaps and at the same time being only 3¼ inch deep...it prevents almost all shave brush 'clanking'.

Here's my favorite. It's a clear glass mug, has raised ridges in the bottom to keep a puck in place. I face lather so this is just for loading the brush. Remnants of an Arko stick at the bottom, recently mushed into a ball because it was getting worn into a very thin disk.15495101329534110423991450799878.jpg 15495101758076994981572277960585.jpg

That’s a later edition, but very nice . I wouldn’t use it or let it get wet.

Yeah...the auction included a second mug with minimal graphics remaining and a lot of gunk inside.

Wasn't sure from pics if it would be salvageable...but with some hot water, a knife and a little elbow grease it turned out pretty good.

Will use this one and keep the other as decoration.

Note: what little graphic remained made it obvious why not to get the other one wet... basically washed off. Good news was there wasn't really enough on it to make out what it was anyway.

I do have a newbie question: is it bad to store my razor in the other cup like this? Should I put a small sponge under to protect finish and draw away water? Bad idea all around? Not an issue?

The mug is great!! I am still evaluating the brush. The handle is just a bit too short to whip up lather without it getting on the handle; yet, it thoroughly covers my face with a super slick lather. I am considering the Omega 11126 with ovangkol handle.

I've been eyeballing that brush for a while. Wood handle, boar, loft ratio where I like it, favorite style of handle!

I would definitely recommend Omega as one of the brands for boars, but haven't tried that particular brush/knot. I have two Pro 10098's, considered too large by some. :)
