yesterday at the wetland park boardwalk, a birder was using flashlight as well as laser pointer, to try and flush out well-hidden birds from the weeds! not good!
went out to the swamp this afternoon, hoping to catch a shot of the owlets, but nowhere to be seen.
but was able to grab a shot of one of the elusive painted buntings, plus a couple other regulars.
this wednesday morning, calm air, nice light, went out to the wetlands hopeful.
alas, very little action.

Nero, the blue and gold macaw, and I in 2001. Back when I didn't really work on my beard and life was simple. Alas, I had to give Nero up when I moved to a new location.
Seen this Sunday morning on my walk through the park to the bakery. This is a European robin, called in German a Rotkehlchen, which literally means "red throat." It is the current "bird of the year" in Germany. Note that it differs markedly from an American robin.
