very nice Thanks for sharing. That went well with the morning coffee

That’s horn and an obvious rescale. Did the seller say that they were tortoise?
Yes the seller said it was tortoise. I should add that the seller is kindal in France which I think has some history with the Heljestrand brand? That being said I’m no good at telling dyed horn apart from real shell so others trained eye is always helpful.

Just so I know in the future, how can you tell it’s horn?

M.K. stands for Magnus Kindal the Swedish French entrepreneur that bought Heljestrand in 1925 and whose family run the company to 1979 when it closed down.

There's no difference between a Heljestrand razor with the M.K. making and one without except for the No.24 where the M.K. No.24 has a longer blade.

Here’s a tip for photographing tortoise - put a small strip of aluminum foil, shiny side up, between the scales to reflect light back through the shell. These aren’t CVH, but they are tortoise, Touron-Parisot. If you look closely, you can see the aluminum foil edge on the left razor.

Great idea, thank you I will try this

These are rescales of post-war razors out of Japan, a ying-yang No 140 set. Black horn, 13/16+, ivory, 7/8+ NOS when I got it. As far as I can tell, these are the same blades as the MK 32/33 but with simpler straight tangs, which by the way are superb. They originally came in cheap plastic scales.
