"Leave it to Beaver"

I just got a PM from brucered and he commented on my Avatar, which is a still from an episode of Leave it to Beaver. Bruce & I both watched that show when we were kids and loved it.

Out of curiosity I checked Netlix and get what...all six seasons of that show are available for streaming.

If you have Netflix and have any interest in checking out the show, which is about Wally wanting to start shaving, go to Season 2, Episode 8, which is appropriately called, "The Shave". (<---not sure if that link will work or not)

I believe there is another episode where Wally tries Ward's electric gizmo and breaks it.

This causes much consternation as Ward is forced to go to an evening event without shaving.
Oh, the shame!

The ending of this Leave to Beaver show is pretty cool too, as Wally ends up getting a straight razor shave from Floyd the barber.

I've never seen the show, it was before my time. Maybe I'll check it out later. I'm always looking for stuff to watch on Netflix.

Love the Beav. I've got the whole series on dvd, and watch it all the time.

ah yes, I've seen your avatar too.

I've almost used this pic a few times for my avatar, from my favorite episode....Beaver Gets a Haircut. can't use an episode title like that these days, and be careful googling that line :001_tt2:

Point of note, the razor in "The Shave" is a Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed. In season three or four Ward is seen also using a Flare Tip Supper Speed. Later Wally uses an electric razor he "bought at camp last summer" and in season six in "The Mustache" Wally uses a Gillette Slim Adjustable to remove the mustache.
Watched the show in the early sixties as a kid and have them all on DVD.

Thinking of Ricardo Montalban
Loved that Leave it to Beaver episode with Howard McNear as the barber. I do recall that the castaways on Gilligans Island shared a straight razor. The skipper and the professor used one in separate episodes with Gilligan disrupting both shaves.

Aug 2012, this is over 3 years older than when I first signed into the forums. I remember the reruns being on in the late 70's after school and I think I watched them all a few times. I don't think I can sit through an episode now.

I've never actually seen this show. I've seen parodies, clips, but never an actual episode. I know it's a wholesome show about an idealized family in the late 50s-early 60s.

Worth a look?
