Leather Travel Roll version 2

So here's the 2nd version of my cowboy travel roll. This one includes a collapsible mug and those plastic containers has witch hazel, shaving cream, aftershave, balm, hair gel. The other pockets have the deodarant, toothpaste etc.

Looks a bit 'Brokeback Mountain' to me with all the leather.....I bet you shave in your chaps and nothing else lol.

Only joking mate - looks decent. I'm looking for something of a similar nature but I'm not a fan of the leather. I've been looking at the Bluebeards Revenge wash bag which would suit my travelling needs perfectly & it's only £12 - bargain!

That's nice. Would be great for hunting on horseback, or motorcycle travel.

Yes I made it so it will easily strap on to the back of my motorcycle and even though the pics don't really show it the leather is super thick so it will take a beating without any issue.

Wow, I think I can smell the testosterone through the internet! The straight blade sits so perfect in there. You know some biker or someone out there has a similar set-up with a Mach 3 in there... it would just be so wrong!

I hope you ate the rest of the cow that you carved this from!

Actually it was a bear and I killed and skinned it with that straight blade.

That looks amazing. Those hinged clasps really look exceptional on there, and I dig the no stitch construction. I think the only thing I would do differently is put a burnish on the edges.

This and the other roll was my first experience with anything in leather.....is it hard to burnish the edge?

Excellent!
BTW - it's not hard to burnish the edges - you can use a plastic burnisher or even a spoon to rub the edges to a smooth finish. Leather supply stores sell a liquid that you can put on the edge before rubbing to speed the process and improve the results.

Not hard at all. Although it would probably be a lot easier to do it before you assembled it. You can buy burnishing wheels for a Dremel type tool. You are essentially just applying a wax and the friction of the wheel kind of burns it in and gives it a hard polish. I love the look of the rough edges but I hate when they start to fray.

If you have any scraps left you can practice on them to get your technique down before trying on the real thing. YouTube has a bunch of great instructions that can explain it better than I can.

I really love how you tied in wet shaving, leather work, and motorcycles. What a great combo!

Sweet roll Dude. I like how you saw a need and just didn't shop for something to fill it. You grabbed the leather and tools and made it happen.

Hats off to ya!
