Leather Cased Red Tip Set. I.D. help please.

I'm hoping that this red tip actually came originally in this neat leather travelling case. The leather is quite old and shows some wear, particularly the snap tab is split. But with the two blade holders inside and the purple satin lining it's very fancy. And the razor itself is a beauty. Excellent condition. Even the red paint is without flaw. Date code D1. Hoping someone can confirm whether or not this is an original set and tell me something about it. Plus give me an idea of fair value. Thanks.

Thats not the case the Redtip came in. The case looks to be from a 1920 Standard Set

Yes, looks like my Standard set case from 1920. The case originally had a Gillette "diamond" on the back inside of the case, looks like your is worn off. Looks in good shape, though, and the clasp looks very nice. In a lot of those the buckle breaks. Now all you need is a 1920 Single Ring to complete that set.

I had a feeling it wasn't a real set. I'll keep my eye out either for a 1920 single ring or for someone who wants a case for one. Thanks for contributing to my continuing Gillette education.
