Not sure the relevance to stropping, but kind if interesting. The tanning process would have a lot of effect.

Ever done kangaroo? They don't have sweat glands, so that is supposed to make for a tight grained leather. Never microscoped it, though.

Like the vintage boar and kanayamhair, compact and well burnished...

Nope. Never had a roo strop. If you have a scrap you wanna stick in an envelope and slap a stamp on I'm happy to scope it.

Here we have:

Modern "Maremma" cowhide leather Front and back

Modern Italian Cordovan Front and Back

A VERY dry and very thick Russian "Pedigree" after oiling lightly and letting sit 2 days. Front and back

And same strop after a second (EXTREMELY HEAVY) oiling. Basically I oiled it until it actually gave me time to rub it in rather than barely having time to even spread it. Roughly 1-1.5oz.
