Leaky Lamy

I've got a Safari that I've been using for a little while and have since expended the cartridge. I got a converter and have a 4oz bottle of Noodler's Baystate Blue that I don't want to waste, but the ink seems like it is not viscous enough for this pen. I've done two fills on the converter and both times it seems the pen is doing okay at first, but after a while of usage there is leakage around the seam between the distributor and the pen body. Is this common for this pen? And is there a better ink (as I was not too fond of the ink in the cartridge that came with it, nor am I a fan of buying tons of cartridges)?

Baystate blue doesn't play nicely with lamy nibs.
Look around FPN for info, or maybe others here will chime in.

Private reserve american blue is similar, but doesn't have the pop off the page effect that BSB has.

You can do what I did and order a set of sample vials from Goulet or another outfit. Being new to the game I wanted to try some different colors, but I really don't want to buy a bunch of bottles that will sit and never be used.

How are you storing your pen? Nib up? Lying flat?

How tight are all the connections? Maybe something is loose ... letting the ink leak out.

I haven't noticed that in my Lamys. At one time, both my Studio and Al-star were BSB pens. One medium tip, one 1.5 italic.

Usually lying flat or in pocket (nib up). Probably 2/3:1/3 of the time, respectively.

I doubt that anything is loose but all I can really do is push the distributor into the body, right?
