Lamy Blue: Ink Review

So to start of with,...

... How the heck am I really the first person to review this ink lol

A nice blue, not super saturated or vibrant, but still a lighter shade in the blue spectrum without being to purple in hue. Behaves fantastic, will dry quick enough for me at work as well. Lamy makes some great pens, and their ink stands right up there with a lot of others.

Done on Apica Premium CD paper, that is a quicker then average dry time to me.

Of course there is also the great bottles

The glass you see when the bottle is on its base is the entire reservoir save for the nipple in the centre bottom that allows it to be snapped into the base as well as dip your Nib low enough to be filled. The bas itself is a holder for blotting paper to allow you to clean the nib and grip section after a fill and keep your fingers clean. The paper within is perforated to separate in small sections of appropriate size

Love this ink! Mine seems darker, though. I'm on my third bottle. :001_rolle

For me, the ability to use it on lower quality paper without feathering and bleeding is a plus. That and it washes out easily and cleanly.

Crimey, had the "HDR" filter turned on,... Ive updated (Unless you have read this to quick) with better more realistic pics
Another wonderful write-up ... this time with TP!
German TP to boot

Lamy Blue is one of those "unnoticed" inks that you'll only miss when it's gone. One of my standard inks that I take so much for granted that I had never thought about reviewing it .... thanks for taking the effort! :001_smile

I cannot agree more. My first pen was a Lamy Safari that came with a cartridge of the stuff. I liked it and when I bought a converter I grabbed a bottle that ended up being blue/black. Didn't realize it until I had already inked up. When back the next week and bought the Lamy Blue. I find the purple hues pop out just enough to stand out to people. I used it for so long at one point people in the office started recognizing my writing based off of the color alone.

Lamy Turquoise is similarly unsung.

James, lover of overlooked inks.

Lamy Blue is a daily driver for me. I have it loaded in my Pelikan M200. The broad nib really shades it well and it makes my signature pop. I will never get bored with this ink.

Love the review, Just got my first pen in the mail today along with some samples. Looking for more colors to add to my collection already.

how about another ink tonight, this time from a completely overlooked brand that can boogie

Sounds great!

In the meantime, I am using my Lamy Persona today, filled with Lamy Turquoise ink. That is a classic as well. (both the pen and the ink)

Nice review, thank you James. This ink has been my standard one for quite a time now. I must admit I hadn't even had any thoughts to test other inks than the Lamy blue until I started to look into the Nib section at B&B.

Yepp, already found two inks from Caran d'Ache, Electric Blue and Ultra Violet, which I recently started to test. The Electric Blue has a very pleasant hue, especially against a bright white paper. I am a little uncertain about the Ultra Violet. Here I have to find a paper which match the ink colour. My best guess is at the moment a 'taupe' hue. Use of a white paper gives, in my opinoin, a too high contrast with this ink. Right now is Diamine Burnt Sienna is in the mail. I wonder how this will end up...Which ink will be the next? Any good suggestions?
