La Toja Shave Stick

So I few weeks ago when I placed my order for the TSN Semogue from Vintage Scent, I also picked up a La Toja shave stick. I have heard great things about this shave stick, but for some reason I never tried one until now. I face lather almost exclusively so shave sticks are right up my alley.

Two shaves later all I can say is: wow! This is the best shave stick I've tried by a long shot. The cushion and slickness of the lather were both top notch; I would say on par with AoS soap, which I highly regard. The richness of the lather also impressed me. My Grosevenor produced enough lather for three passes without any trouble.

I've heard that the old formulation of this stick had tallow and was even better. I'm not sure how that's possible, but I'm going to try and get my hands on some to see for myself.

I should never have waited this long to try this great product. I can see the La Toja shave stick becoming a part of my regular rotation from here on out.

La Toja Manantiales was the first non-tallow soap that blew me away. I find the stick to give similar results. It provides a very dense, cushioning lather which is the equal, if not better than, that of any other soap I've tried.

La Toja is my favorite stick by a long shot. I bought it as a travel accessory but now has become a regular rotation item. And the scent imo is out of this world (reminds me living on an island). In fact I was so impressed I also invested on the cream.

Just a great shave soap, Love the scent. My favorite stick by a long shot and for the same reasons you highlighted. My first use was quite the revelation. I've never tried the tallow version but its hard to imagine it getting any better. Wish it was offered in puck form though. Hopefully someday.

Valobra was, for some time, my favourite stick. La Toja changed all that and relegated it to second place. The merest of covering produces wonderful lather. I have been lucky enough, thanks to a Spanish member here, to acquire the vintage stick. If you thought the veggie couldn't get any better, then the tallow stick will amaze you. It is THAT good!!

David, you are a luck man to have the tallow version of this great shave stick.

I am going to keep my eye out for it.

La Toja is the best shave stick in the world today! No ifs, ands or buts! My daughter brought me 2 from Spain where they are on sale everywhere and only cost €1.80.
An amazing stick that is easily worth 5 times the price!

I am a huge fan of the La Toja shave stick. It has a fragrance that is unlike any other. You get hints of the mineral salts which I really enjoy. I think the La Toja is my number one shave stick. I have been using the new Mystic Water Shave stick which does have tallow for a little over two weeks to give it a fair review. It is a nice product, but for me it does not perform to the level of La Toja in terms of lather, comfort, and fragrance. For those that have not tried this product or those that wish to stock up. Joe at http://www.italianbarber.com has a great sale on La Toja shave stick priced at $4.99 which is a great price.

My favorite shave stick...Perfection IMO...actually enjoy it a tad more than the La Toja Manantiales (in the wood bowl) which is no slouch by any means. The scent, the thick rich lather, it's slickness, cushion, and even the container it comes in great! I travel for a living and regardless of my rotation of travel soaps, this one is always in my toiletry bag.

Yes, it is worth five times what I paid for it.

I'm going to start stocking up. I'm a bit apprehensive that La Toja might discontinue the stick someday like they did with Manantiales.

For our stick users here, are some softer than others? I think I would prefer sticks if they were a little softer. I am assuming the new Mike's are pretty soft. For reference, I love the Palmolive sticks but I used them grated because I find them too hard. Really wish they would make pucks.

This was the reason why I decided to grate my Speick stick. A very good soap that was just too hard and uncomfortable to use. LaToja is softer than Speick, not as soft as arko. The only three sticks I have experience with.

La Toja is my all-time favourite stick. Slickness, cushion, lather, scent and post-shave feeling are #1 for me. A real pity the Manantiales puck is no longer made.

Also, isn't there a vendor who sells these by the case? Maybe I am thinking of another product, but thought I had seen these sold in 12 packs before.

I got one during the time of the vanishing moos. It took a use or two for the scent to develop, if that makes any sense. Now it as a permanent spot in my dopp kit. The case looks like it may fit a wee scot very nicely too.

I agree about the post shave face feel Marco. I forgot to mention that earlier. My skin feels soft, nicely conditioned, and not dried out at all.
