Kyoku for men shave cream with sake?

Has anyone tried this stuff? I can't seem to figure out what sake is doing in shave cream but other than that the company looks interesting.

Sake-infused shave creme

$34 is a good chunk of change to try something I don't know much about.

Seems like a lot of shallow b.s. marketing b.s. Sake would do nothing more than dousing your face in diluted alcohol (i.e. Aqua Velva strength) before applying the lather. Oh well, I'm sure that there's a sucker born every minute, so if anyone tries this stuff (which regardless of the marketing schtick might actually be worthy cream) let us know how it works.

It seems that nobody has ever had the pleasure to use this shoe cream smelling stuff from Japan. For me is not worth the mighty price (around 30 Euro 75ml)

I don't think this product actually is Japanese. At least not Japan made. I believe it incorporates Japanese ingredients, is made in the USA by a British company originated by a guy of another origin. Truly international. In any case, for accuracy, you can do your own research on that, perhaps starting with their website: http://kyokuformen.com/

As for the product, I have a tub and I find it to be amazingly good to the skin and especially forgiving to the razor. I got it in Canada from a store called MASC in Vancouver:

Nice folks in there and plenty of time to explain and describe their products to you should you wander in for a visit.

So the shave cream is not unlike Cremo Cream, you need but a thin coat and it will only muck up your brush. It's applied with your fingers to a moist face and you let is set there for a couple of minutes before your first pass with a razor, you know, to soften your beard a little bit, as a preshave. Although all but two of my over a dozen shaving soaps/creams are applied with a brush, this product is not. I used to be a snob and had to use my brush but now I am convinced that this product produces a shave to rival all the finest shaving creams and soaps, so I use it.

As for the scent, it might be a little too sophisticated for a "classic shave" guy that believes its scent resembles shoe polish, but it is actually quite nice. I can't really describe it but I love it, perhaps as much as any other favorite shave scent. I rarely use any particular shave soap/cream on my face two shaves in a row, but this one has several times been used on the third shave day or out of rotation just for the scent and its amazing slick quality.

I had to put in my two cents as this really is a fine shave cream. If you are a die hard classic brush and blade guy, then I suppose that this stuff is not for you. But, Mr. CREAMY, if you haven't actually used any of this stuff and are interested in a try, I will be happy to send you some and you can try for yourself. Just email me your address and I'll send it right off.

For those needing something for sensitive skin, they also have an unscented version.

Absolutely not what you asked for, but I have the moisturizing cream and the pore reducing cream by Kyoku. While I like the feel of the moisturizer, the price just had me expecting liquid diamonds that would change my bone structure and make me look like Brad Pitt. It did not, so I probably will go with a cheaper moisturizer in the future. Can't really justify the price.

Sorry I was no help

I appreciate the info... The Groupon offer is $25 for the Pre-shave Optimizer, Sake Shave Creme and Exfoliating Scrub. The total savings is around $53 for the set. That is the main reason I was asking, to see if this product was even worth paying the $25 for the set. Thanks again for your feedback.

Sorry I'm late! The Sake Shave Creme isn't bad at all. I like it, actually. Would I buy it again at the price listed on their site, no. But for $25, I couldn't lose. Anyway, a little goes a long way. I can say, DO NOT USE A BRUSH! It will be useless as this is not a creme that lathers.

I did! It didn't think it was half bad, actually. At first, I thought it would lather, but it didn't. I found a little goes a long way.

I used Kyoku shaving cream today for the first time and it certainly did not produce any lather at all when used with shaving brush, but offered reasonably comfortable shave.
Tomorrow I am planning to use my fingertip as an alternative method of application.
Cream has scent that I cannot describe and offered substantial cooling effect to skin.

I have a free sample of this from when i purchased my R41 a while ago and havent got around to trying it yet, I also had some "West Indian Limes" which I really liked.

My wife went to Grooming Lounge for some T&H and she got sold this stuff. What can I say other than it smelled pretty bad and the shave was nothing great. I suspect it is a marketing gimmick.
