So I am a recent (as of tonight) convert to Kyle's pre-shave method with one little gotcha:
I have an incredibly tough beard... actually after 3 weeks of wet shaving I have yet to feel the blade glide across my face. With Kyle's method it was better, but my stubble still felt like a coarse grit sand paper (the curses of have a red beard maybe?) Anyway... I rubbed the lather through the stubble for a couple minutes, did the hot towel, and when I went to apply the lather with my pure badger brush I felt like I was sticking a pin cushion against my face. My boar brush was better, but I can't seem to get as much lather with it. So I am considering (next paycheck) getting a really nice badger brush.
As a (primarily) soap user I am looking for a badger brush that can stand up to Tabac, or PdP. I am considering the Shavemac #177 23mm Silver Tip. Does anyone have experience using this brush with soaps? If so how does it perform? Only a few of the reviews mention soap... and I just want to make sure before making a huge investment.
Thanks!
