Knot Selection

My brother is just getting into wetshaving, and he got himself an EverReady 100 that he's already yanked the knot out of, but he hasn't bought a replacment knot yet. I'm going to try and beat him to the punch and get him a knot for Christmas, along with a couple soaps and/or creams.

The EverReady will take a 22 mm knot, and, if I had to guess, he'll end up as a face lathering cream guy. I'm trying to decide what knot to get from TGN. I'm going back and forth between the Super and Silvertip Grade A. I'd like something that will work well with soaps, too, in case I'm wrong in my prediction.

I suppose any knot will work with any soap or cream, it's just a matter of how much you want to work it. In any event, input is much appreciated.

I recently got a Grade A knot but have only used it with creams and it works great with those for face lathering.. will be trying it with soaps this weekend.

I'd get a 22mm SuperSilvertip. I find it softer and denser than either the Super or the Grade A.
