Klar Kabinnett Question

Was thinking about getting some of this soap, But wanted to know about the scent and performance. I love the smell of roses but would like one that is a stronger smelling rose. My wife likes roses as well but she likes stronger smelling soaps due to the legs being so far from the nose she has trouble smelling some of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It comes as two large 250g bars (500g in total). Which is a bunch of soap for $20.00.

Thanks for your help

There's a few threads rolling around on this soap. What you'll hear is great performance, just very overlooked because of the price. Has a hint of rose/ floral scent to it. I say go for it!

I have used Klar Kabinett in rotation for probably a year or more. As to scent, it is rose but a "hotel soap" rose. By that I mean that there is an artificial aspect about the scent. It is strong but doesn't last much past rinsing the lather from your face. Think Bullgoose said it made his whole stockroom smell of rose! It is easy to lather and provides a very nice shave, as do all the Klars. Rich, and leaves a nice face-feel. I probably use Kabinett as much or more often than my other soaps.

I like rose, occasionally, and have bothe the Klar and Trumpers Rose in the rotation. I think that the scent is very slightly stronger with the Trumpers, while the Klar provides better lather in our water. If I had to choose just one I'd take the Klar

Thanks for the help guys keep them coming. It sure is a ton of soap for 20 bucks, so i was wondering if it was any good or not.

I've been using KK as part of my soap rotation for a couple of months. For me it's a real pleasure to use--all the more so because it's quite economical. To me, the scent is muted ("hotel soap rose," as John Parker describes it, is apt), and, while I myself can't tell, I doubt that the post-shave scent is really noticeable. I used a standard table knife to easily slice off a square chunk, which I keep in a cheap plastic container. I face lather. Using an HJM synthetic brush and having moderately hard water, I find KK quick and easy (30 seconds or so of loading) to generate a rich, moisturizing lather for 3+ passes. Of course, YMMV.

The only thing I can say at the moment is that Klar has a very high and solid reputation among experienced wet shavers all around the World. The Kabinett, introduced with the intention of giving a professional barbershop soap, is something I also want to try. The excellent price point and rose scent definitely are added bonus for me.

The Klar Kabinett is well within my top five soaps. Value-wise it is even higher.

Me too hope someone can help who has some experience with this soap.

It is an ok artificial rose scent to my nose, but it is an outstanding lathering soap and quite a deal.I would get it and if you don't like it put it on BST as it is a pretty popular soap in these parts. Just so you know the rose scent goes great with Aqua Velva :lol::lol::lol:

P.S. In all sincerity it is a good soap

I have been wet shaving everyday for about five months now, and I've come to love this soap. On the scent, it certainly is not a straightforward rose, and bubblegum is definitely there (thus, perhaps, the 'artificial' smell). However IMHO the gum and rose mix wonderfully - into a distinct fresh smell with a continental flair.

I find the performance also to be very good, plenty of cushion and some slickness. I don't find it as moisturizing as, say, Mike's, but the price and all around performance make up for that in my book.

Oh, some have from time to time mentioned trouble lathering. Using something with backbone, and in the last resort, a few drops water on the puck the night before do wonders. Certainly worth the effort.

You won't be sorry when you buy this. A great soap, with a very nice scent, for a very nice price. One of my absolute favorites!

Just so you know the rose scent goes great with Aqua Velva :lol::lol::lol:

Aqua Velva goes with nothing! You know better than that! I bet it smells better with Proraso or Floid or Clubman or RR Baby Blue or Skin Bracer maybe Old Spice or anything else on this planet, but not the Velva.

Thanks Jay! LOL

KK is one of my favorites. The scent is not very powerful in my view. It is a kind of institutionalized barber shop rose scent. The performance and feel of the lather is excellent.

I'm not a huge fan of rose scent, but I don't hate it either. My chunk of it is two years old and still has a noticeable amount of scent, so I figure it must have been pretty strong initially.

Performance and price are both great.
