Klar Kabinett Review

About a week or so ago, I ordered, and subsequently did a review on a tin of Klar Seifen Klassik shaving soap (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showth...VE-butterscotch!-A-Klar-Seifen-Klassik-review)

That got my friend Ian (SliceOfLife) and I talking about his experience with the other Klar offering, their Kabinett shaving soap. To give a little perspective, you pay $30 for 110g of the Seifen where the Kabinett will only set you back about $20 for a whopping 500g. That's a huge difference. That will be important as you read this review.

Anyways, as soon as I heard that he had never tried the Seifen, I reached out and we did a trade.

This morning I went out to find a nice sized package in the mailbox containing not only a generous sample of the Kabinett, but quite a few other soaps from his own personal stash. Ian is quite the stand up guy.

Here are my thoughts on the Klar Kabinett. First off, this product has the texture of an Italian Croap. It is extremely pliable and very easy to load like Cella, RazoRock, etc. The scent is a VERY nice Rose. Not in your face, not so faint that you can't smell it, just a very nice soft, powdery rose that's not feminine. If you're a fan of lighter scented soaps like MWF, this is for you. The performance of this soap is outstanding. No doubt about it. It is thick, creamy, supremely slick and leaves your skin feeling outstanding. Very smooth and very hydrated.

Now here's the kicker. It lathers SO similarly to the Seifen, that Ian and I both agreed that the value lies with this soap 100%. You can't argue with the value that this presents. If you're looking for an outstanding soap that you can buy in bulk like kilo's of Cella, this would be a great buy. I am extremely impressed with both of these Klar products, but when they are both gone, I think I will opt for the Kabinett to reorder.

Anyways, this thread is worthless without pics so here you go. I used my Duke 3 in Best, loaded for about 30 seconds and added water 3 times to achieve the lather that you see. All in all, took me about 2 minutes. My last video received good review, so if anyone would like to see video of how I achieved these results, just ask. I would be happy to deliver that for you.

Cheers!

When it comes to creating a shaveapacalypse stash these 2 bricks of a total of 500 grams and kilo bricks are simply perfect.
I currently own the Klar Seifen Klassik but this one is on my list.
Thnx for the review!

Thanks for the review. Kabinett is an excellent soap. If you dig rose, do yourself a favor and score some.

Another great review, Matt! The Kabinett, unlike the Seifen, is placed in an excellent price-point and something that I definitely want to try soon or later. Also, the Rose scent to it is an added bonus for me.

This soap is excellent!. I lathered this and MDC up this morning and feel that the Kabinett is every bit as good as MDC. I prefer the scent of MDC but the scent of Kabinett is nice as well and to me smells better once lathered. For the price I think it's the best soap out there. I wish they would make this in a Lavender scent then I wouldn't have to buy some MDC.

+100 on Klar Kabinette! It's easy to make into a shave stick, and if anything, works even better that way.

Great price, great scent, great performance. World class soap at a Williams price.

Nice review! Klar Kabinett doesn't get the love a lot of soaps get, but is a top notch performer for me..... and now it's available in Canada as well!

One of the finest pieces of enabling I have seen on this forum.
I was quickly onto their site, checking out the range and prices for shipping to the UK.
12.99Euros for the soap and 9.50Euros for postage. If it really is up there with MdC for performance, this is a bargain - even with the high postage.
This is one of those "How strong am I?" moments

In case you are wondering what 500 grams of Klar Kabinette soap looks like, here are a couple of cheap cell phone pics. My hands are about average size.

I was pulling the trigger on the Kabinett today, but shipping costs on the Klar web-site are killing: €19,64 from Germany to Italy!? I sent them an e-mail asking if there is a better option for me, since this rate is even more expensive than the soap itself (€12.99).

Maybe a trip to Munchen this winter to ski and pick up some Kabinett?

Excellent stuff. Klar Kabinett + DR Harris Pink + Czech & Speake #88 = Fantastic. I bought a brick from bullgoose quite a while ago but I guess he doesn't carry it anymore. No idea who sells it now...

What a coincidence, Talibeard and I bought a pack of Klar Kabinett this last Saturday and split the 500 gram pack. I didn't have the opportunity yet to try it out as I have so many other soaps fighting to jump the bowl. As I pondered how this soap would turn out, I spotted your story and now feel more relaxed. It must be Talibeard's crystal ball and great 6th sense that we got it in time to coincide with your review :biggrin1:.

It is really good stuff. Used it today as a matter of fact. I'm going to be bummed when this sample runs out, gonna have to place an order.

This soap is certainly on my best list. (Or to put in another way- YEP this is the soap that i would choose as my funeral soap:)
It´s a cheap one for the bucks. Buy it. It´s on the secret" top notch ones". I am still amazed that this one has so less airtime over the years. And NO I have no inteest in Klar´s sales. figures.

I liked Klar Kabinett enough to order one of the more expensive Klar soaps. (Lemon Sandalwood I think....)

The el cheapo Kabinett kicked the snot out of the more expensive Klar soap from a performance and value standpoint.

I think they perform about the same. Value wise, you hit the nail right on the head.
