King Barber hone

Hi all,

I just picked this up off the 'bay'.

Just wondering if anyone here has used a 'King Barber', and if so, have I made a good/decent choice? Also, suspect that it may need a bit of lapping when it arrives... I've got some 60,120 and 400 Aluminium Oxide wet'n'dry paper - would that be up to the job?

Any hints and tips greatly appreciated!

By looking at the pics it looks to me as though the stone is deteriorating and the binder is breaking down. I believe it has passed its useful life as a hone. If it soaks water and oil and laps easily you know for sure.

Damn!! Ah well, thanks for the info. If it IS a dud I'll be back on the BST. And I thought I'd be 'saving' on postage...the joys of being a newbie! lol

yeah if i were ide keep it for a knife hone.

ive got a pike easy edge that the binder has broken down and it auto slurrys and IMHO its an ideal bevel setter or knife hone thats my go to boot knife and opinel stone
