Kind of disappointed by "Elios"

Regular stainless Elios are far from being a favorite blades of mine, actually they rank in the lower bottom half of my personal ranking among 60+ different blades.

Things may change as Elios just came out with a new platinum-coated blade:

Elios blades are produced by Feintechnik GmbH Eisfeld. The company was established in 1920 as RITZMA-Werke by Albin Ritzma until 1948 when it was re-organised into VEB Feintechnik Eisfeld. At that time it was the only manufacturer of wet shaving technology in East Germany. In 1952 came the development of industrial production of carbon steel razor blades . In 1968 Feintechnik specialises in razor blades and the production of inoxidable razor blades begins. In February 2014, Harry's acquired the German razor blade manufacturer Feintechnik for $100 million.

Feintechnik are now a world leading manufacture of DE razor blades under the Bolzano, Croma and Elios brands.
Supposedly Elios are intended for the Spanish market but they are quite popular also in Italy (don't ask me why). Bolzano, intended for the Italian market, enjoy a better popularity worldwide maybe because Bolzanos are a slightly better blade.
Croma are currently out of production.

Feintechnik blades have a peculiar "feeling". Some shavers like it, the vast majority don't. It's due to the honing process, the so called “Gothic Arch cutting technology” (also known as the “cathedral cut”). It refers to a blade‘s profile and denotes a cut pointed arch. This particular honing technique should improve smoothness and durability of the edge. In my book they are not smooth nor sharp. I will probably get a tuck of the new Platinums in the future but I don't have high expectations.
