What's new

keeping face lather warm

I have the dirty bird brush scuttle. It was not working for me....once my bush was loaded with water and lather...my brush did not fit far enough down to keep it warm, plus lather sank to the bottom and my brush could not pick it back up.

The other day in the store I saw a Koziol Latte cup in the store ( I live in the middle east) so I picked one up and came home.
Seemed to be able to hold my 26 mm knot with no problem

BTW here is the link....

Then I pull out my older huge cappuccino mug from a thrift store back in the States, And now I have a way to keep my bigger brushes warm after I face lather.

So you are fully prepared for all brush sized now. Awesome!

Thank you so much for this timely post. I have a Truefitt & Hill 26mm silvertip brush and I was going to order the Dirty Bird brush scuttle next month. You just saved me from buyer's remorse.
Thanks for the tip!

To be fair I can post a pic tomorrow but my non scientific cloth measuring tape measurements of the scuttle are.....opening of 75mm necking down to a diameter of 25mm. Should work well on smaller more standard face lathering brushes, just did not work for my bigger knots.

That is a good thought as well. I read some posts on cold shaving and I may try that some time as well.

I'm in the same boat as you. Wanting to keep my loaded brush warm and then came across this thread today: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/168069-Cold-water-shaving-it-works. Haven't tried it yet but will give it a go today.

I'm not trying to redirect your OP. Just figured I would add that thread to your considerations because you had also commented on the cold water shave earlier.

I have placed my brush in a ceramic mug in the sink of warm water and it has helped keep it warm during my 3 passes. Good luck with your quest. I'll be curious to find out what you decide.

By the way, just did a google search and this kicked up on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WARMING-PITCHER-/360162442640
$1.99 for the pitcher but the seller charges over $15 to ship to California. Can you say " forget that guy!"...

Heres something for $22 at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Deni-15501-Electric-Gravy-Warming/dp/B002LARFYG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_sg_3. I might be tempted to try this one and replace the gravy boat with a round ceramic bowl that I already own just to make it look less kitchen like. Of course the whole electricity near water issue could come into play... Not sure if this item is sealed or not...

Just figured I would throw a couple more options at you.

Every Charter Member of the He-Man Arko Haters Club has a Dirty Bird brush scuttle. Here's a bad picture of mine:

Correction, I have a 24mm T&H brush. Maybe it would fit in the brush scuttle?

At this point though, I am looking at the Dirty Bird original shave scuttle so I have the option of warm bowl lathering as well.

Thanks for the link! I looked around the web last night and found that item is no longer available. I did some related searching
and found gravy warmers, but they were around $65. I figured that if it is going to get that expensive, I might as well
buy a proper shaving scuttle.

Just did the same. But you will notice the price on the warmer Turtle refers to is now only $3.98--if you can find one in a store:

I will be looking for one on Wednesday when I go to Jacksonville.

I tried a few things and finally decided to go with a full size shaving scuttle. I went with a DirtyBird 1.5 scuttle in solid blue with the web pattern lather bowl.

I figured that a larger brush was not going to work with the DirtyBird brush scuttle, but going with a full size scuttle, the brush size
would not be a factor.

So far, I have been bowl lathering in the scuttle when I want to have a warm shave. That has worked out nicely and
the lather in the brush is staying warm as well, so that is my solution at this time. I figure that I could face lather
and keep the brush in the scuttle to keep it warm, but since the web pattern (or bowl lathering in general) helps me get a good lather quicker than
I currently can by face lathering, I will just bowl lather instead.

I posted a review of my scuttle here: http://badgerandblade.com/reviews/s...page=2&title=dirtybird-shaving-scuttle&cat=68

And here are the pictures of my scuttle with a quarter for a size reference:
