Keep products in boxes or toss them?

Do you keep you shaving / grooming products in their boxes or do you toss the boxes and just have the bottles etc., on the shelf?

I have a load of aftershaves, colognes and a few balms etc., that are mostly all still in their original boxes. However some of the boxes are getting a bit banged up and tatty after having been opened and closed numerous times.

So ............ to keep the boxes or just toss them? That is the big Q? for today

I keep the boxes if I think I might not like the product and want to send it to the BST. I don't keep the products in the boxes when i'm using them.
Unfortunately that means that I have a closet full of boxes.
But you know, they don't make packaging like they used to.
Some of those old boxes are really nice and you want to keep them.
Nowadays it's all cheap cardboard.

If you are using the products regularly, which it appears you are, I see no reason to keep the boxes. Particularly since you have everything out on shelves, don't need the boxes in order to "stack" the products for convenient storage, and by your own admission the boxes are "getting a bit banged up and tatty".

About the only reason I can see to keep the outside packaging is if you are going to sell/PIF the item or need it for storage.

Of course, if you happen to just plain like the looks of keeping it in the box, that's fine too!

I used to keep the boxes for all my stuff.

Then one evening as I was happily chatting away on B&B, SWMBO calls out to me to hurry in and look at this on the telly.

I walked in and there was a show on the tube about "hoarders" and this particular case was a woman who had boxes out the yazoo.

I mean everything she bought she had the box for.

I cleaned out the closet the next day.

I now believe that I never needed any of those boxes anyway.

Stuff that I have and am keeping doesn't require a box because I'll use it till it's gone and it will never go back in the box.

Stuff that I have that I am throwing away doesn't require a box because my trash man isn't that particular.

Stuff that I have and am giving away doesn't require a box because the people I am giving it to know it isn't new, and it would just be a box that they would have to hoard or toss anyway.

I walked in and there was a show on the tube about "hoarders" and this particular case was a woman who had boxes out the yazoo . . . I cleaned out the closet the next day.

That show made me seriously think about what I keep and why I'm keeping it. I cleaned out my whole house, and I'm really happy about freeing up all that space.

I flatten the boxes and keep them in a rubbermaid shoebox. MWF and PS boxes are more elaborate so they sit on top.

It's half a just-in-case measure and half so I'll have some elements to work with in several years when I take a photo for the graveyard. :tongue_sm

I toss them. I don't have any shaving products in my active rotation that I use so seldom that I keep them in the box. The exceptions are bulk razor blades (I still have 8 or nine packs of Derby blades in the box), and the stuff I haven't started using yet (e.g. I have a CO Bigelow shave cream tube that is still in the box because I got two for one on sale).

If I like the stuff enough to buy it, I would hope that I would want to use and keep it. I toss the boxes because they take up space.

You are losing a lot of future ebay cash if you toss the box. :biggrin1:

Having said that, I never keep the box unless it is something special. Too much useless stuff sitting around!

depends on the product. Razors I usually keep. The Pils and Feather boxes I just couldn't bring myself to throw out. Aftershaves and soaps go to the bin.
