Kaweco Sport Eyedropper?

Anyone bought one of these and converted it to an eyedropper? I'm thinking of doing this, anyone care to share any experience with the Kaweco Sport pens in general? I don't currently have one and I'd be curious about the durability overall and the different nib options/smoothness.

How does the smoothness compare to Lamy Safari/Al-Star nibs?

Thanks.

Great pen, smooth nib and decent price. I only used mine as an eye dropper and BSB is the only ink that gave me a problem.

I've been well pleased with mine, though I haven't done the eyedropper conversion. I bought it specifically to be able to throw in my pants pocket without having to worry about breakage or the cap coming off, and it hasn't disappointed. Nice smooth nib, too.

This is a very nice little pen. I have several, eyedroppered ... one I use for ink samples (Ink Drop &c) so I can say they are fine eyedroppeed right to the end of the ink. Very nice nibs, too.

A bit of silicone grease is all you need.

I have a medium Sport that I've been using as an eyedropper now for about four months. It spends as much time in my pants pocket as my shirt pocket and especially when I've been very casual, it performs flawlessly. It's never leaked and has never missed. For under $30, it's been a bargain. I plan on picking up a few more.

I have a number of these and use them eye-droppered as well as with cartridges. I find them very convenient to throw in my pants pocket when I don't have a shirt pocket. I have had no issues with leaks or problems with wear/tear in a pocket. However, I have forgotten to take them out of my pocket a few times. And once an eyedroppered one made it as far as the spin cycle on the washing machine. By the way, in that circumstance, it will leak and leak in catastrophic fashion.

That is one way to ensure your wife doesn't let you wash clothes ever again. My wife is a neat freak, and the couple of times I washed dishes I sloshed around a bit of water. Some on the floor, some on the counters. I am now banned from washing dishes. Oh, the humanity :001_smile

And I'm sure it was 100% unintentional splashing, right? :001_tt2:

I've been using mine as an eyedropper with Diamine Red Dragon ink. Very nice, but I've had a bit of ink seeping out into the cap. There's also some ink that is in the nib section that I can't seem to wash out. I'm gonna fill it with different ink to see what happens next.

Are you using silicon grease on the pen?

These are great little pens. Very smooth and they write well. I carry one when I wear a polo or shirt without a pocket.

I have been carrying one with Noodler's Antietam for quite a while. I love this one because I don't usually wear a jacket and it fits in pants packets easily. I have only had it leaky one time when I overfilled it a little past the inside threads. I just emptied it a little and re-lubed it. Good as new!
