Kanon scent

Hey, all:

Can someone describe the scent of this aftershave and what it is similar to?

I've never had one in my possesion to take a sniff so I'm trying to get an idea of the scent.

Either the regular Kanon or the Norwegian Wood. Not sure if there are more than these two made by Kanon.

Thanks.

The Kanon website provides a description of the scent:

Top note: Lemon - Bergamot Mandarin - Corinder

Middle note: Rose - Lily of the Valley Geranium - Cinnamon

Bottom note: Musc - Cedarwood Amber - Olibanum

I used to use this one in the 80's, when I was watching Max Headroom while listening to the Stray Cats........yikes, I'm old.

Anyways, I ordered a Kanon pair recently, that being the cologne and aftershave. It seems to have a more "chemical" smell than I remember, which was a bit of a letdown. That said, for me, its got a bit of musk, cedar and sandalwood, but this is my subjective description.

In any event, it isn't too expensive, so if you have a chance to pick some up or make an order via the 'net, I would say go ahead, its not really an unusual or aggressive scent that is likely to put you off your feed.

Best,

Chris

Based on your experience using this, if there was an older version and a newer version side-by-side, would you say the older version is a better choice, if available?

Thanks.

Man, I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, and you want me to use an olfactory memory from 25 years ago to compare today's Kanon to the original!?!  Nope, the synapses don't fire that well anymore!

Seriously, the current Kanon is fine I think. In fact, reading your e-mail inspired me to put some Kanon cologne on after an afternoon shower today, and I have to admit, its not a bad scent at all.

No idea if you could even find an original bottle, the current stuff would be fine.

It's only 25 years on the ol' cranium.

From the sounds of it I think I may like it so I'll have to add this to my list.

Thanks for the help.

I've been interested in the newer Kanon Norwegian Wood as well, but the best price I can find is $20-30 bucks...might wait and see if I can do a little better for a blind buy.

I had a very old bottle I found on my father's nightstand that he had never used in some 20 years. It smelled very woodsy, and my botany professor said it reminded him of a patch of forest in the Smoky Mountains he visited while in grad school nearly 40 years ago.

That's a very cool story!

I just found a Kanøn Norwegian Wood gift set (100 ml EDT & 100 ml aftershave splash) at my local Ross store....$12.99. I picked it up as a blind buy after reading some good comments about it on basenotes.com. My initial sampling is very favorable...a nice cedar and sandalwood fragrance. It seems to have pretty good staying power, also. If you enjoy a sweet woodsy scent, this is definitely worth checking out, particularly for the price.

That is a great price. It is much spendier on the Bay!

I'm jealous....I keep hearing about guys finding Nor. Wood for a crazy discount price, but I haven't found it locally yet.
