What's new

Kangaroo Wallet

I felt like it was time for a new wallet and I wanted a Kangaroo wallet. I'm in Japan and tired of folding YEN to fit in my existing wallet so I wanted to make sure my next wallet could accommodate Yen and Dollars. I had trouble finding one utilizing the internet from a source that I wasn't leery of being scammed from. so I ordered a skin and made one myself. I made the order for the skin from David Morgan, and had my wife purchase and ship to me a couple of sewing supplies from Jo-Anne Fabrics including a leather needle set. The stitching isn't very pretty but I assure you it is plenty strong, and after two weeks of use It's starting to break in nicely.
Here are a few pictures, hope you enjoy.

Looks great. Nothing like making something with your own two hands. I kind of like the effect from the black sharpie. Even though it's home-made, it looks like something you'd find in a trendy shop. Congrats.

That's pretty dang sweet, I would like to do that sometime, how much did the skin run you if you don't mind?

The skin is sold by Sq decimeters (some Aussie measurement) based on the thickness that you order .6mm, .8mm, or 1mm thick the price can range from $95 (.6mm) to $220 (1mm) depending on the actual size of the skin you receive and you don't have a size choice.

What happen when I ordered (from David Morgan) was my card was pre authorized for $220 which is the largest 1mm thick skin they get in. I did order the 1mm as I plan on using the remaining leather for a motorcycle seat.

When they shipped the order (and gave confirmation) I was charged $140

My wife then had to re-ship it to me since I'm in Japan, but that's just my scenario since the company didn't ship to FPO's

Yeah I considered sanding the sharpie line off for about 5 minutes. It will eventually fade through use though, so to me I wasn't interested in it being perfect.

Also just to be different I used both sides of the grain for the card slots since it was so bland looking, I'll take another picture with it empty to high light that for you.

Thanks, maybe I will try that sometime, the 1mm looks nice, and being kangaroo I'm sure it will last forever.

Wonderfil looking wallet, nothing like hand-made.
SWMBO made me a leather wallet (nothing as nice as kangaroo), it was suede and after some time the nap hand been polished down to the feel of fine soft calfskin.

The 1mm is the thickest that it comes in. said to be good for sadles (horses), like I said earlier, my intention is for a motorcycle seat (sadle) and I couldn't help but play with some in the mean time.
