My wife and I are looking at getting a single cup maker for daily use, primarily for coffee, but also for tea perhaps.

Reviews seem to be difficult to pick if the K or T cups systems are better? I've gathered that the Keurig systems tend to be the best for basic coffee, and the Tassimo units if you wanted lattes etc, which we won't be doing anyways. We do however want a reusable pod like comes with some of the Keurig systems (not sure if they are avilable on their own), but I don't think there is a reusable T cup is there? Cost per cup is a concern as well.

Is there a clear winner?

PS: This is the one we are considering, if going K route

I'd go off the board and vote Jura Capresso. I bought mine probably 8 years ago ago and absolutely love it. Starbucks and Peet's is a let down after coffee from this thing. Ours is strictly coffee though. We do tea in the nuker.

Ours is a bit old (although still works great), but I think this is the current version of what we have: http://www.capresso.com/automatic-coffee-centers-c5.shtml It's got a hopper for beans and a water tank. It grinds the beans for you, packs brew cup and steams the water throught the coffee. Mmmmm. Think I'll go home for a cup of coffee now. :biggrin1:

My that does sound good! However I think it is a little, err a lot out of our price range for a while.

Yeah, it's a pretty hefty price tag that I couldn't really justify for a cup of coffee. After eying it for about 6 months, I bit the bullet and bought it for my wife as a gift. It has held up well, and it does make a fantastic cup of coffee.

Keurig in our house. Bed Bath and Beyond carry the refills in abundance. Other than that, seems you have to go online. The Keurig has treated us nicely so far.

Keurig is the machine maker and deals with multiple coffee companies.

Tassimo is owned by Kraft so you get Kraft coffees and Starbucks that Kraft sells under license.

So the question is do you want a machine sold by the maker or a machine sold by the content provider?

i found that problem when i picked up my senseo machine, the only coffee avaiable for it is made by dewight edgebt and is horrible,
we ended up using an adapter allowing the use of normal coffee in it,

if i had to choose between the systems on the market, i would probobly go for the K-Cup or the nespresso, both have refillable cups which will allow you to avoid having to pay insane prices or get stuck with bad single brand coffee,

Thanks guys!!

Looks like K-cup it is. We were already leaning towards that, but I couldn't really find much comparing the two. You guys just re-affirmed what we were thinking :)

And even better Costco has a good price on a special eddition one, I think we will be getting that one soon.

Thanks!

The machine the OP is looking at from Costco includes a K-Cup and 90 pods of coffee. Great value in that package.
