What's new

Just wanted to say hello, and share a photo.

I'm fairly new to the boards here at B&B, but have been into photography as a hobby for many years. I do not know which one picture in my archives is my favorite, but I've uploaded a few to my B&B gallery and thought they might see appreciation here.

This one is my favorites among the ones I've uploaded.

My current go-to camera is a Nikon D7000. I just recently picked up a Micro-Nikkor N 105mm F/2.8. My wife loves macro shots, and is very good at it. She's been dominating the camera lately and I'm pondering whether to pick up another body. Perhaps a D7100. I'm not sure I want to invest as heavily in lenses as D600 or D800 will require. What are your thoughts?

Cheers!

The Yosemite shot was originally very very dark. The sun had almost completely gone down, there was just this awesome pink/orange coloration in the sky. I took a longer exposure and it was still a dark picture. These are the colors that came out when I brightened it up post process. It was an awesome trip, and thank you.

Nice shots! I particularly like the one looking up at the statue of liberty. The texture, shading, and lines make it very eye catching, I certainly had to stop at that shot and think about the statue and what it represents; I wonder if it would look good in B&W or sepia tone?

I'll play with a few color variations when I get home on Saturday. I never really thought too much about the colors present in the statue picture. I guess that like yourself I end up pondering what it represents and the power of ideas. It does feel a little monochrome and would probably lend itself very well to an artful split-toning treatment.

The Whistle Pig is good if a touch on the clean side. Very well behaved and smooth on the tongue. I prefer a fuller body with a slightly earthier flavor, but it won't let you down in the strength department. It came off as a technically precise creation; well studied and almost clinical. Straight whiskey in it's purest form.

In an attempt to make an interesting B&W (which was a failure) I ended up correcting the color in general. I feel it was a little flat before.
