Just Scored A Birth Year Razor

Well, last night I won an auction on e-bay for a Gillette Flair with a C4 date code. From the pics, it appears to be in fine shape. I can't wait to get it and try it out. Just thought I would share this. I will post more when it arrives and I get to try it out. I am planning on letting my son try it out, who knows, it may end up being his.

Nice find, I like shiny things. It looks minty. Flair tips are solid made and are a great bargin, Congrats of your Flair. Thanks for sharing

Well, young man, my pride and joy birth year razor is a Red Tip C1. Enjoy yours, it looks to be in excellent condition. Mine is in good shape, and will soon be sent out for replating.

Nice and minty! I also have a C4 Superspeed. It's hard to beat for a nice, irritation-free shave. Have fun using that one!

Well done! Great find! That is a super clean Super Speed. I'm a C3 (57) fella. It took me almost a year to find one. My serach was rewarded when a member here saw that I was looking and offered me one he bought.

Well, I got the razor yesterday in the post. I used it this morning. It looks even better in person than in the pics. The dang thing looks brand new.

Now for the performance review - it performed as designed. Of my 3 DE razors, it is the most mild. My Merkur 38 HD Classic Barber pole is the most aggressive and my Merkur 46C is in the middle. Also, the length of handle just happens to follow the level of aggressive was with the Super Speed Flair having the shortest handle. While I got a decent shave, it was not the closest - that would be the 38HD. I also am not a fan of the short handle.

It's is a beautiful birth year and quarter and I will keep it. It will also be a good starter razor for my son. I will use it on occasion, but it won't have a slot in my regular rotation. I don't regret the purchase, but if it was just another user grade razor, I would probably give it to my son or somebody starting out.

Flaretip, gentlemen, flaretip!!
Great find and enjoy your shaves. MY go to razor's a
British Flaretip (Rocket), more agressive compared to
my americans and more balanced, IMHO. :001_cool:
