What's new

Just ordered an Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Imitation Ivory

I purchased a Merkur Futur about 2 weeks ago, my first DE in at least 20 years. Engaging in a couple of loosing battles with this Samurai of the bathroom, I gave up on it. Reading posts on this forum led me to trust the Edwin Jagger. Today I ordered the Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Imitation Ivory from West Coast Shaving. It should be here early next week. Will report on it as soon as I can.

I noticed that the Edwin Jagger De89 gives a really good shave far as a non adjustable razor goes, number three on my goto razors. Right behind the Slim adjustable and New open comb. Hopefully it'll serve you well.

It's nice to see that, lately, more people seem to be appreciating what terrific razors Edwin Jagger makes. I like the ultra-aggressive razors too (FaTip, R41, etc.), but I can get a DFS and an occasional BBS with my Jaggers - and enjoy a measure of comfort at the same time. Nobody can match their workmanship and finish or their beautiful, elegant designs.

What does BBS and DFS mean ?

I have the ebony version of the same razor. I haven't tried too many razors but out of, R41 2011, Merkurs 38C, 37G, and my regular handled EJ...the length and balance (a bit head heavy IMO) is perfect for me. It is a very smooth and comfortable razor. YMMV.

I just bought the EJ Chatswroth Barley DE razor (shipped to me today) along with the EJ Bulbous Lined (still on order though) - hope it will serve me well ....

Hey Claus- Those are the two razors in my collection I would never part with. Beautiful, elegant designs & wonderful craftsmanship. I'll be curious to know if you end up preferring one over the other and if so, which one.

I have never tried a Futur, but have a modified Progress, which can be adjusted to the point where it is quite aggressive.

I have several of the EJ razors and it seems as though the heads are all the same. They are probably one of the best every day razors out there.
