Just got my futur. Any tips?

It would be helpful if you could tell us a little about your level of experience, what you are using now, and what you are looking for. I bought mine for aggressiveness and use it set at 6.5, but I was looking for that feature from shave #1. Definitely not for everyone. Most users are in the 2-3 zone, from my reading.

I'm with CodFish, the razor is supposed to make stubble cower in fear before it, not take it to the prom.
Crank that puppy up to 6.5, like it was meant to. And then with a feather light touch, start shaving. You'll hear not the putt putt of an EFI 4 cylinder, but the full throated roar and rumble of a 454 double barreled carburated V8. Yeah, this is loud. You can hear the stubble whimper just before it is removed, with extreme prejudice.
This is a razor not to be trifled with. It will do the job asked of it and will do it in exemplary fashion, but as with any tool you must treat it with respect and know how to wield it.
My FUTUR was the last of the three Merkur adjustables that came into my possession. So, I had a vague idea of about where to start. But as I was adjusting to 4, my beard just fell off and I had the perfect shave without lathering or shaving.
I think you can just wave it in fromt of your face, even bladeless, and that will do it.
Alternatively, you can set it around 3 or 4 and adjust from there, with a blade in this last case.

When I was using mine regularly it was on about 3.5 it's deffinetly an aggressive razor.
Mine is set at 5 with 6 as a "combat reserve setting"....It will not negotiate with any beard and is solely on search and destroy missions every time it is in use
