What's new

Just curious

If you are after more SE razors here is my preference list (in the order of MY enjoyment factor)

GEM Micromatic safety bar (Flying wing)
GEM Micromatic Clog Prof (large lather relief safety bar)
Ever Ready Streamline
GEM or Ever Ready model 1924
Damaskeene
GEM or Ever Ready model 1912
GEM G-bar
GEM push button
GEM Jr
GEM Micromatic open comb
Star lather catcher
GEM or Ever Ready model 1914

GEM Junior Bar (lather catcher) -- cool looking and the best SE shaver I own. NOTE: The GEM Jr. Bar is not the same razor as the GEM G-bar.

Why not go backwards in a logical time sequence?

After an Ever-Ready 1924 (my personal favorite), I would recommend getting a 1914 Ever-Ready. Next get one of the 1912's (preferably a Star or a Gem for brand name variety). After that, go forward in time and get a Gem Micromatic Clog-Pruf (1940s), and then get a Schick Injector, possibly a Type G or Type I (1940's/1950's).

You then will have the "cream of the cream" in SE safety razors, that few persons would argue against and many knowledgable shavers would be envious of. You are to be congratulated for focusing on SE razors. (I'm guessisng you are a newbie.) As a group I believe SE razors are more interesting and attention-getting that DE razors generally are.

And then a couple of lather catchers with the modern blade. And finally a Kampfe Bros. wedge blade LC.

The only razors I use anymore are these listed below. Nothing else gives such a great shave. In order of my preference:
1. ER Streamline
2. GEM Damaskeene OC
3. GEM Damaskeene
4. GEM OCMM
5. ER/GEM Lather Catchers

I would just go with whatever catches your eye first or the first great deal you come across. There are so many very highly regarded SE's available for very low prices that it is very easy to experiment. My favorite SE so far is my Auto-Strop. I highly recommend it to others, especially if you like an aggressive razor. It has a small amount of adjustability and a very unique appearance. It does use the more expensive Feather SE blades, but that isn't all bad, since I find them superior to the CVS SE blades that I use in my 1924 and OCMM.

IMO, pretty much anything you buy coming from the 24 will be an improvement in feel as far as the SE razors go. I would probably go 12 next. Or maybe a clog pruf.
