Just Bragging

So I haven't been in here for a while and I feel like im in a bragging mood. Lately I have been using my D.R. Harris Arlington and my Edwin Jagger Aloe shave creams and been having amazing shaves. Last night I whipped up a bowl of the Edwin Jagger with my Colonel and thought to myself "you know, it seems that I find myself pressing the razor when I shouldn't since its not the mach3 that I used for many years." Then I of course thought "I'm going to just hold the blade against my skin and not press it into my skin.

Just let the blade glide." I did this approach one other time and was quite please with the results. Well I did it again last night and noticed less burn with the alum after my shave and my face is still CRAZY BBS. I love it. I do first pass WTG on face and neck. Second pass XTG on neck and ATG on face. Third pass is ATG on my neck. My face may not be the prettiest looking thing, but when it comes to my shave, its dead sexy. You guys need to come feel this thing.:thumbup: My wife is always very pleased with my shaves. She likes to rub her face against mine:001_wub:

That's the trick. I recently started shaving properly and get better results than if I applied pressure.

Yep, never understood applying pressure or "letting the razor do the work". Better to use a razor with a good sized blade gap and focus on technique...after you hydrate for 4-5 minutes that is!

Keep it up!

proper technique will make things different. it is a journey to find the perfect combination of shaving technique, razor/blade. and lathering. I was a totally different shaver 6 months ago when I started shaving with a DE. I didn't even know how to hold it and thought it is like a fusion. and boy I was wrong.

so congratulation and wish you good luck.

Thank you all very much for the feedback. I have been DE shaving for about a year and a half now. Oddly enough the one thing that got me started was a search for a better shave and ditching the "Gillette junk". Well to me its junk in its own right. I have been using them and similar blades since I got my first whisker. The problems I had that were never ending were the little red bumps on my neck and never getting a COMPLETELY BBS shave like I do now. After doing much research I found this forum and found out that after about 18 years of "shaving wrong" that I could now shave like a man and get a much better shave. Plus there is like 1000's of cool creams, soaps, brushes, and all sorts of cool stuff I get to try. How awesome is that?

But yes the last year and a half have offered many wonderful shaves and some learning experiences. For instance I think I may have sensitive skin. Well I tried a Feather blade long ago and that thing sliced up my face like a wicked ninja. But I have learned a lot about this ugly mug I have been blessed with and how to get an amazing shave better than I have ever had.
