Just bought a car - 2006 WRX

I dont know if anyone would be interested but its pretty exciting for me and I thought I would share it with the rest of the members.

Last Friday I bought a 2006 Limited WRX. I have always been a huge car enthusiast. This is my first car that I have owned that is turbo so its going to be a lot of fun. Obviously its used with about 60,000 miles on it. Other than some minor cosmetic issues it is in great shape. I bought this at a car dealer not a private sale. The dealership was unaware of the mods already done to it so Ill list them here for everyone. Just a few were done.

The interior is leather with heated seats in the front, and there is a sunroof/moonroof. Im probably forgetting something so sorry about that.

Mods
Cobb downpipe
Cobb 3" exhaust
Cobb intake

Other than that, Im not sure if it is chipped or what was done to the computer but it definitely is pretty quick.

Here are some pics for everyone......

Great car. I love the white WRX's. I have a 2008 Legacy and next time I think I'll definitely have to go Legacy GT if I get another Subie. I just wish they hadn't made the new ones so fat. I'd love to get a WRX but I don't think the baby seat would fit in the back.

I don't own a WRX, but I've driven one; if you're someone who really enjoys driving (as you seem to be) you'll love it.

The first few years they were out, you could get a used one pretty cheap because the general public wasn't very educated as to what they were, exactly. They hold their value much better now. I often kick myself for not buying one back then...

Subaru makes a mean car. That thing will keep rocking for a good while.

You might wanna get it benched to see what it actually puts out, but I wouldn't worry about it unless you're gonna tweak it.

Beautiful car. I'm a huge Subaru fan and I've owned one since 2004; best car I've ever owned, especially up here in Canada where we get laced with snow.

Congrats.:thumbup1:

She's a beaut. The 4WD will serve you well, I was surprised when my friend and I went camping in the desert to see that as our truck struggled over bumps and hills in the road a Suburu Outback was zooming through them.

I got a great deal on this car. I actually couldnt believe the price they sold it for after a little haggling by myself. There was no way I could walk away from it.

I actually am planning on getting the car dynoed in the future to see what the computer is set at and to find out how much HP it really is making.

As for the future mods.....Im thinking a front mount intercooler would look damn sexy on it and also a BOV(blow off valve)

This is my first Subaru that I have owned and I already love the AWD. I plan on keeping this car for a long time.

Thanks for all the comments!

Always liked your model of Subaru.

I'm an old cowhand now, but when I was young I had the Subie turbo of it's time....a '62 Volvo PV544s with a B18s engine.

PV's were used a lot in rallies and sports car races back then...yup, I know it's not a sports car...but it was considered the sports sedan for the sports car enthusiast with a family....in it's day.

Nice ride and very clean for an 06. How about some under the hood pics for us gearheads? Congrats on the new car! :001_cool:

Nice pickup. I am still a big fan of that body style. I prefer it to the current WRX. Every now and then I do a search for one like yours, but a wagon. Unfortunately I have a long commute, so I also wish the WRX or even a Legacy GT (last generation) did better on gas. If they did, it would be a no-brainer for me to get one as my next ride.

My only fear with buying a car like the WRX used, is who owned it before me. That is why I'd almost lean towards a slightly used previous gen Legacy GT instead. It might have an easier go.

very nice buy! i just picked up an '08 impreza outback sport with a 5 spd. i love me some subaru! (it's our 3rd)

Thats awesome buddy. Cant wait to see it.

Thanks! Ill get some pics of the engine asap for ya.

AWD is awesome! Did you drive it in the snow yet?

I didnt get a chance to drive it yet. Its going to be sitting in my garage until the summer, but it is so tempting to go rip around lol!

Yea I was very cautious about buying a used Turbo car. You never know if someone beat the crap out of before you but the price on it was well worth it.

Right now the car heads back to the shop for a CEL (Check engine light) that just came on. Last time I told them the problem and they didnt listen to me so this time they better. Ill keep this page up to date as things change.

Thanks everyone for your interest!

A work buddy has a similar car. No turbo, but similar. I really like it. He found one in 2-door, and went halfway across the US to buy it. The only issue you may have to watch is turbo life. They are a replacement item. I do not know the projected life span of a WRX turbo, but that information should be available.

Great-looking car. I have always been partial to BMW 3-series, but they have gotten too large. After riding in my buddies WR, I may just have to consider one.

Im pretty good with cars and I have held a job as a mechanic before. Turbos usually are good for about 100,000 miles. Now that depends on how much you beat on them and how you take care of them. Proper warm up and cool down will greatly extend the life of any turbo. Im planning on swapping mine out with a STI turbo in the future :biggrin1:

I wanted to update this thread just incase anyone is following it:

I recently bought a Walbro 255lph and plan on installing that soon, by March. The car is just sitting waiting for summer to break.

I have a ProTuner coming down from Conneticut to tune the car in March, hoping for 285 - 300awhp :biggrin1:. By then I will have installed the necessary gauges (boost, wideband & oil pressure) and also I am planning on buying a Kartboy Short Shifter with a custom Lathe Werks shift knob.

Well until then I get to wash and wax it a couple times

I will also being posting some pics of the engine bay. Its pretty much stock minus the Turbo back exhaust.

Thanks for looking
Brian
