Just Another Story

I LOVE seeing pics of razors here, And, LOVE the stories that BBers tell about them and the people they meet. I got one for you, from today. The razor is very common, but, the people maybe not-so common.

I live outside of a small village. Took my car into town to get it worked on. Dropped it off and me and the dog walked home. On the way, stopped at a house, just outside of town also. They were having a garage sale in their barn. The couple looked to be in their 70's. I told them that I collect shaving stuff....we chatted, I said "those old double edge razors" and the gentleman says, "I think I have some in the house". Well, he goes into the house, for at least 10 minutes. I chat with his wife. He comes out with this fairly-green razor. I tell him what it is, year, etc.

I ask him what he wants for it, and he waves his hand at me and says "Take It". He then says "I know I got more in there". Well, I asked again to pay for it and he just waved that hand at me. So, brought it home, cleaned it up.

When I picked up my car, I stopped by and showed them how nice it cleaned up. He says "looks brand new" with a smile. He tells me again that he has more and to stop back in a few weeks, which, I plan on it.

So, to sum up my story: Someone I had never met before gave me a Flair Tip Super Speed today. Not a bad day.

Sound like great people. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that the couple suddenly found a basket of fruit on their front porch one morning.

Nice story, the razor looks great now! Hope he finds some more razors for you, either way it was nice to get the one.

Sounds like you may have found a new friend! The razor is just a side note, ask him about the time period, what was going on then and such. Every razor has a story, you get to hear yours!!!

Thanks for the kind comments.

As for the clean-up, I finally got around to using Flitz, and, as you can see, it makes a Huge difference. I used it on all my nickel razors and they are really popping now.

This is what I enjoy maybe more than the razor. The interaction with other people and spreading knowledge.

Was there any other steps involved?

I just try to follow the steps that I learned here:

Hot, soapy water, maybe mixed with scrubbing bubbles.....nylon brush.... Repeat....
Maybe non-whitening toothpaste next, soft cloth, nylon brush, maybe brass brush on knurling.... Repeat
When I feel I can't do any more with those steps, then, use Flitz....sparingly at first, with my fingers or soft cloth, maybe Flitz and brush on the knurling.... Repeat...

Just dawned on me, like beard reduction, Crud-Reduction, sometimes, takes multiple passes......of course, YMMV
