What's new

just a new guy wondering if this deal is any good

so I am a new member that is particularly interested in taking up straight razor shaving. which means first and foremost i need to get a razor.

I'm looking for some cheap no frills entry level stuff so in case i ruin something or decide its not for me im not out to much money.

so i was browsing the forum yesterday and someone recommended this site http://ruprazor.com/store/index.php

so i looked through the site and saw this http://ruprazor.com/store/index.php...facturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=32
it looks like it is a pretty good deal he says they are shave ready and even offers a guarantee. and having the strop thrown in reduces the
number of packages being delivered which is always good.

so what do you guys think. thoughts/input and suggestions are always welcome

Its a good deal. Ken's a great guy, I would not hesitate to buy from him. Personally I wouldn't buy a DA, but thats because I'm spoiled. Its still a decent razor, it'll shave.

edit: In addition, while I started on a new Dovo many years ago, I would personally not buy one of those either. Trade or receive as a gift, sure, but never buy.

If it comes from RupRazor you are getting a good deal.

P.S. I have a DA from Ken. It shaves fine. As a matter of fact it shaves better than the $100 Dovo I also have.

Now it is not the world's fanciest razor. On mine scales are a little floppy and the blade and scales are not as tight as I would like but it shaves just fine and is a great beginner's razor. Just think -- if you drop it on a tile floor you won't cry as hard as if it cost half again or twice as much!

I also started with the Filly strop.

im with leighton - I would rather start with a different razor (some DAs are excellent, some are rubbish - but you dont know what yours will be like untill it hits your face). But thats just my opinion, lots of guys like DAs. Its a good deal

I can't comment on the DAs as I've never used one, just a Wapi and a pair of Sheffield straights, but Ken is an excellent guy to deal with. I really would not hesitate to deal with him again after buying my first strop from him. The Filly is a very nice starter strop by the way.
