What's new

June Acquisitions

This little oddity arrived the other day - a Mastercraft Sparkless zeppelin pipe. The chamber walls are completely clean, no tooth marks on the stem - I don't think it's ever been smoked. Fished it out of the bay for under $45 shipped which isn't bad for one of these - Vauen sells a zeppelin pipe for around 200/300 bucks. They're supposed to be a pretty temperamental smoke, so we'll see. I've scoured the internet and YouTube and no one seems to know for sure just how the bowl is supposed to be packed, so I'll just wing it like everyone else who's posted about them.

Almost two centuries old now.

Well, the bottom half is pretty nice anyway - the top half has a lot of large fills. I get the feeling this design was meant to use up the smaller bits of leftover briar that weren't big enough for even a small ebauchon. The stuff you read about these things being meant for smoking on hyrdogen-filled Zeppelins is hooey.
