July 2024 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Day 10, 32.3% complete

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Cubebe
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.76 SB, Al Handle, Astra #3
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

Stayed with the same kit, for a quick but effective DFS.

Haven’t tried the new formulation but the tallow version is excellent IMO

The performance of the tallow one was very good, but it gave me a dried-up post-shave. Maybe it's time for a retry...

Notes:

Magnificent shave with the Shark and Blackbird. Pairing could be slightly better, but the team delivered an outstanding result.

Enjoy your shave today!

Day 11 still in.

Another super shave. A feather on day 2 in my ASD2. Saponificio Varesino lathered with a big Zenith boar in my scuttle and on my face. A very nice soap. It might even be excellent - I will need to try it a few more times.

Conviction that I have made an important discovery - for me at least - is growing.

Day 11, 35.5% complete

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Cubebe
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, Astra #4
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

Back to the .84 Game Changer plate, for an easy near-BBS. I think this is still the best compromise between comfort and efficiency.

In and getting good shaves with my Shark, shave 21 on the blade today. A few days ago I took what was left of two bottom of the mug Mike’s and put them in one cup. Heated them in the sun and blended them. I now have one small soap without a divot, which improves the brush loading. (I still have a few new ones in reserve.)
