I have ordered stuff from every continent without any mail issues. I have had previous mail issues which were also in the USA. Watching tracking on some of my USA orders they travel like a pin ball across the country before they head north to the border. Everything has always been delivered. Especially now I think all global mail services are improving but sometimes we experience glitches. The duty thing was human error. I wondered if the first delay on my delivery was USPS, but I didn’t ask.

Mail Call

I have used electrics most often the last 13 months, ugh! I am so looking forward to a lathered combined face & head BBS shave. I have tried almost all the SV fragrances and I’m glad my Cosmo & Tundra soaps are almost gone. Felce Aromatica does it for me. I love the fragrance. Another duplicate order in the mail. Since my last purchase of the pre shaves they have doubled in price. All my shaving products stocked at a two year supply, minimum. I just be happily shaving. No purchases necessary. Close happy shaves.

Less felt like More

In my cart days I was definitely a minimalist. In my fourth year of DE shaving I can finally return to a minimalist set up. It’s where I am happiest. I know it’s going to be the same stuff every time I shave. It took me almost three years to find the products that worked with my sensitive skin. My set up delivers close comfortable shaves every shave. Never any surprises. My locked four are; Fatip Gold Grande, single use Feather, Zenith B35 boar, SV Felce Aromatica. It has been a very enjoyable journey. Exploring and experiencing many aspects of the shave hobby. I didn’t think it was a hobby at first but it most definitely is. I have explored and learnt so much. Learning how to properly look after my skin. Learning how to shave all over again in my seventies. It’s never too late. So much fun.

To night was an excellent time for me. I pulled all the brushes a little box of soaps and so many other things. The shave cabinet got sorted out. I am so happy that I have my minimalist shave shelve. Like Forest said; “ One Less Thing”

John, I'm excited to see you return to the forum. A while back I discovered your posts discussing your single pass ATG shaves. Your writing was captivating, and convinced me to gat a FaTip Grande of my own. Looking forward to hearing more of your wisdom, as you have energy to share! Happy shaving to you!

@desertcat Thank you for the compliment. I really enjoy the community, journaling and writing reviews. I always hope that I might help someone with choices, it can be very intimidating when just starting out. My head was spinning for a few years. I’m glad to be locked in with a fixed four. I continue to refine my shaves. Hopefully add suggestions and comments to help our fellow shavers. It’s a great place to be with so many knowledgeable shavers and fine gentlemen. Are you still enjoying your Grande?

@JoWolf I am certainly enjoying the Grande, along with several other razors. When I finally nailed a truly magical shave with my Timeless .95 I thought immediately of your writing. There is no feeling that compares to using a powerful tool with necessary skill and grace. I frequently succumb to the temptation of dabbling between my variety of razors... however your fixed four emphasizes the importance and value of extended training, an example I should follow! Today's shave will be with my Chrome Grande in your honor.

@desertcat if you don’t use the same products consistently. It is more difficult to explore their limits and strengths in your shave. I mentioned a few times journaling, I thought I approached the limits on the Grande. Only to find out, I hadn’t. Always surprised to see the Grande shock again. My kit is second nature. Allowing me to enjoy a deeper relaxation and better comfort in the shave. I think most of us are here to enjoy the community. I can also wholeheartedly say exploring shaves of other gents elevates our own. I feel more motivated and determined to improve my shave since returning after a thirteen month hiatus.

Last Nights Shave

My first face-head shave in over a year. I had been shaving head and face individually, exploring all kinds of facial hair growth, electric razors & trimmers. How could all that jumping around help my shave? My best answers quite often have been; “Don’t Do That Again”. Our shave experiences will drive us to success. Only if we honestly accept the results, and change what we can change. Equipment and products are simply a vehicle that will allow a drive to success or over a cliff.

What makes a great shave is the simplest but most difficult item to obtain. A Satisfied Mind. Are you totally relaxed and comfortable. Is shaving an escape for you? A happy place. It is for me and I try to lengthen the experience because it feels so good.

Thank You Johnny

Junkyard Dog….?

I think electric’s are great. Trimmers. They are compact, fast, efficient. If you are in a hospital bed and need a shave, I want to use an electric. Will they give you a great shave? No. They will trim and cut whiskers. Organizing head and face whiskers to a presentable appearance. Tactile and visible whiskers remain. They are shorter and street worthy, if you can get out of the hospital bed.

Facial hair
I have two younger brothers. The youngest and myself devalue our appearance with any type of facial hair. The other brother and his well kept and trimmed goatee belongs on the cover of Gentleman’s Quarterly. Shaving my head before Michael Jordan made head shaving fashionable. That was an interesting trip. I had people consoling me thinking I was in chemotherapy. Other people avoiding me thinking I was a skinhead. In the sixties and early seventies I rocked shoulder length hair. Shave and hair culture has swung all over in many directions. Even purple hair looks good if you have the right wardrobe. I prefer only eyebrow hair on my head. All other visible hair I eliminate. Hair is Very Personal. Rock it with joy.

Let’s check out these Hair Chewers.

The Panasonic ER-GB80/ER-GB70/ER-GB60

Hair trimmers do not shave your hair they shorten and trim your hair. It comes with the standard grill to cover the cutting teeth. Two other grills for longer hair to be trimmed. A charger, a little brush, and a little oil bottle. It can be used while charging. The standard grill needs to be removed when the pop up trimmer is in use. It is a wet dry shaver and can also be used with lather. The comment on the lather was. It may help with irritable or sensitive skin. First of all it is not a shaver. It WILL NOT shave you any kind of close on the lowest setting. It will shorten whiskers. If you need to wet your skin or use lather you are probably rushing the cut and or pushing the machine too hard into your skin. Skin flattening and taking time and care would be more effective. On the other hand if you are an in the shower hair cutting dude this could be your huckleberry. The settings for length work fine, it’s a trial and error thing. I have not nor will I use it wet. The main reason is extra cleaning involved after use. Whiskers should be swept out of the cutters after each use. Every fourth or fifth cut I will rinse the cutters and when completely dry, a dab of oil on the teeth. A nice machine, I like it. Works well within its limitations.

Pitbull Skull Shaver

If you’re thinking this is a mean nasty junkyard dog. No. It is a modern well designed updated rotary blade shaver. The body is comfortable to hold in the palm shaver cut outs and indents. It is also comfortable to hold and use without using the bowling ball holes. It is light, quiet and a pleasure to use. I have owned and used at least three different Phillips triple rotaries, over the years.

This puppy right out of the box did impress me. A little battery % gauge, nice. It can be used while charging. It is a wet dry shaver which can be used with lather. My opinions and comments on wet and lather use from the above hair trimmer also directly apply to this machine, with a caveat. More heads, more grills, way more cutters. The cutters are matched to the grills and must’n be switched about. My first impression was; it felt “chintzy”. The body, the heads everything so much lighter than the three headed Phillips I just dumped. This one got four heads. Ahhh… now I got it. More heads, more power, lighter with more heads, more faster, what a nice shaver. Short work for a complete face and head shave.

I carefully remove the heads after each shave and sweep out the whiskers. After three face and head shaves I would sweep out whiskers and run the dog in the optional bath for the suggested 10 minutes. When fully dry I would oil the cutters. The maker suggests replacing the heads yearly. In the past I had used sharpeners etc for the cutters. Not worth the effort. A yearly replacement sounds good.

Pitbull offers three different cutter heads. The Carver - two cutting rings, flay foil mesh, best for coarse hair. The Forte - two cutting rings, beveled foil mesh, best for most people. The Baron - three cutting rings, s-contoured foil mesh, best for sensitive skin. These cutters are available in three, four, and five rotary head configurations.

The Pitbull middle, silver model, suggested best buy in reviews is the one I bought. What’s in the box? Just the shaver with a Forte head, a charger, and a little black bag.

I optionally purchased the head Bath Stand, a Baron Head, and the overpriced Blue Case, only to get enough dollars over for free shipping. Pitbull can be purchased from the maker, Amazon and numerous retailers. Shop around for best pricing.

I can not nor do I plan on an in-depth based on long term or daily use. Not why I bought electrics. Some of my shaves were with both electrics, DE, and carts for trimming, thrown in for good measure. Definitely hybrid shaving.

Does it shave better than my old three headed Phillips. Yes. Faster, noticeably more comfortable. Closer not so much. A caveat here; any type of shaving requires whisker’s to be trained or grow adaptively to the cutting method used. My whiskers are in a hybrid growth, and that would affect electric efficiency for a Close Shave.

I cannot use ANY type of electric cutter below my chin line without neck skin irritation. I had a lot of neck hair while using electrics, if I didn’t use DE on the neck. Some chin neck beards as well.

Would I buy either or both of these electrics again. Yes absolutely they preform admirably well. They are an option for me used under special circumstances. I prefer DE shaving.

Friday morning shave was very nice. Returning to a weekly DE shave, a lust fulfilled. Long hot showers are now needed to free up and calm, joint pain and stiffness. The pounding Water Pik massage difficult to put down.

Shave & Spa routines back on the front burner.

Last Night’s 7 Day Shave

A busy physical day around the house left me exhausted. Eleven pm and I had little energy or desire to shave I prefer afternoon shaves nowadays. I am also determined to get back on a regular shave schedule. My best shaves have always been when I am on a regular schedule. For me that’s seven day shaves. I cut my regular routine down by an hour and still slid into Sunday. I’m glad I made the effort. A great shave with the accompanying relaxation, set me up for a good night’s sleep.

A dilemma of minimalism I have to use this photo until I can take a better one 📸

Midnight Special

My weekly Shave last week. Heightened luxury, with a long relaxing post shave. Shave after moonrise. Last night’s midnight shave. Slipped into a rhythm of comfort. A strong chorus of bullfrogs beckoning. Quiet winter shaves months away. Sparkling in the moon glow. The Grande’s short quick strokes. Slicing through a weeks growth effortlessly. Springtime on wetlands, dynamic all hours of the day. A two pass face & head ATG. The bulls seemed to moan and encourage the Feather edge. Closer and closer. The SV’s slickness spreading under the caress of the velvet boar. “J Hooks” screamed across the moustache and chin skin. Ultra smooth and close. The comforting rhythm elevating, then relaxing into a luxurious post shave pampering. I Love shaving. Saturday Midnight Specials.

I continue to reuse the same shave kit photo. I can’t seem to take one I like more better🥲. A pic of the bullfrogs home is offered for your added pleasure.

Afternoon Delight

My shave is my refuge. Uncle Arthritis has been nasty. Dragging my right leg around in pain and misery. Afternoon shave and spa time lifted my spirits. Nothing dials up my comfort and well being, better than a shave.
My seven day whiskers have stabilized in their growth from a year of electric ripping. Closer shaves with higher skin comfort.
The Feather silently gliding through slick lather, felt stationary. The second ATG pass while not really needed. Lather and brush screamed for more face & head time. Why not. I love using my kit. The familiarity complemented by precision and smoothness. My Afternoon Delight set me up nicely for movie night. Hello Orville.
