Joop Homme Very Sexy In Pink

Beats me why Joop make a pretty decent scent and then stuff it up by calling it something silly like "Very Sexy In Pink". Basically this scent smells quite a bit like Joop Homme, though not as sharp, and has saffron and leather thrown into the mix. Unfortunately, I have a hard time detecting saffron, and I only really notice the sweet leather after it's been on for about 8 hours.

Longevity of this scent is low relative to the original Joop Homme, as it only lasted two days on my forearm.

My wife greatly dislikes the original Joop Homme on me, but quite likes this Very Sexy in Pink flanker.

I wore it much of the previous week, when the weather cooled down a bit, but stopped this week when the weather heated up. I don't think it a good hot weather scent.

Anybody else tried it?
Cheers,
Renato

I've never tried it, For years I worte Joop Homme and actually went through 2 3.4oz bottles of it when I was younger (in highschool). I always liked smelling like candy and I got so many compliments from every angle. Recently I have gotten into Georgio Beverly Hills RED which to me has a very similar warm sweet essence. I do agree with you that "Very Sexy in Pink" is an awful name.

Wow - getting through two bottles is no mean feat.

I've got Giorgio Red, and funnily enough wore it for a whole week back in January. It reminds me a bit of Drakkar Noir for some minutes after application, but then turns to something quite different.

Meanwhile, I've found out something interesting about Very Sexy For Him. I've got a whole big room smelling of it, after my wife washed and ironed my shirts and hung them on a gadget. Machine washing doesn't seem to get it out.
Regards,
Renato

Yeah I really had a strong affinity for Joop Homme, I still have the smallest amount left but it is very sweet. The Giorgio Red I do like a bit more right now, although it is not my favorite but it is a nice spicy oriental kind of scent.

What is your opinion of Drakkar Noir? It isn't something I've ever smelled and I was actually interested in trying to find it.

That's unusual that Joop Very Sexy is so... pervasive and permanent, I didn't know colognes stuck around like that.

Joop Homme is very cheap down here - sometimes as low as $25 for a 125ml bottle - so when I used to work in our big city, on a non windy day, I'd be running across vapor trails of it everywhere - with no sign of the wearer in sight.

Drakkar Noir I've always liked, and it has untill recently been fairly expensive down here. But I notice that most of the US members at Basenotes groan whenever it is mentioned because apparently, for a while during the 1980s, numerous people were drenching themselves with it, the price dropped, and even more people started using it.

Maybe my wife needs a different washing powder to get the Very Sexy In Pink out?
Cheers,
Renato

Haha interesting. I actually just put in an order for 2 testers of Drakkar Noir because I see reviews pretty much seem to suggest that when used appropriately it is excellent. I am very fond of those heavy, heady masculine scents so I'm curious.

It'll be interesting what you think of it.
At Basenotes it is often described as an 80s powerhouse, but I've never thought of it as such, since I can think of dozens of scents from that era which are a lot stronger.

I'm in my mid 20's and I've found that I have a strong affinity for these "80's powerhouses." I found my father's Paco Rabanne pour Homme and Polo Green classic and I really actually like them a lot. Even though they are "classic" the fact is that people don't wear them really like they used to so they are actually very unique scents that I don't come across often

Sorry for the tardy reply - it's still hot down here, so I put eight hours in down the beach.

I got Paco Rabanne vintage EDT and balm as a free gift with the purchase of another scent. I thought it was awful for about a year, before it really grew on me. Similarly, I thought the Polo I tried 12 years ago was very bad, but now have two bottles of the current version - it doesn't seem as rough as what I remembered the old version to be, or maybe my nose has changed and there is no newer version. Anyhow, I like it now, but my wife doesn't.

Have you tried Sung Homme? It's an ulta potent citrus and oakmoss scent from the 80s which grabbed me from day one. But over at Basenotes I've always been in the minority on Sung Homme - there always seemed to have been only three or four members who liked it at any one time, with everyone else disliking it intensely. I remember one guy describing it as being just like the lobby of a sleazy hotel - which I couldn't argue with, as I've never been to such a hotel. Anyhow, if you can locate it very cheap on the internet.

Another cheap powerhouse I like is Lapidus PH.

Renato

Firstly, I am quite jealous of your weather as it's about to snow here and certainly going to the beach would likely lead to hypothermia and from what I understand, Polo has been reformulated.

I have not tried Sung homme, however, per your suggestion I just purchased it from Amazon, I will let you know what I think soon.

So I got my Drakkar Noir samples yesterday and I have to say that I definitely recognize it, I don't know where from, but I love it. It is clean, fresh and soapy. There don't appear to be any harsh or bitter elements and it really resonates as a sort of after-shave smell, or right out of the shower smell... It almost seems a bit cliche in how perfectly it represents that now that I think about it. It definitely has strong elements, but it does not seem overpowering (I put 2 dabs on both side neck and 1 on each wrist). Overall, I enjoy it very much and I think I will include it in regular rotation.

Glad you liked it. I find it very difficult to fathom the negativity associated with Drakkar Noir in so many on-line postings.

It'll be very interesting to see what you think of Sung Homme. For some reason, I think it a power scent - the scent to wear when serious adversity would crop up at work.

Just came back from another couple of hours at the beach. I wore Biotherm Aquafitness as my beach scent of the day.
Cheers,
Renato
