What's new

Join me for a week of glycerian based soap.

I know that its really glycerin by product soap but it just looked ridiculous typed out, melt and pour looked just as absurd. :001_smile

We are wrapping up a week of French soaps, I enjoyed it so much that I'm planning on using my soaps from The Gentleman's Quarter all next week.

It gave us a great chance to use similar soaps and make observations and comparisons about them and ask each other questions about our soaps.

I have 4 different soaps from TGQ, 3 of which are the one ounce sample sizes. Starting Monday January the 11th I'll post my results in this thread.

Come on out and let have some fun.

I think all of us doing the "Week of VanDerSpice" are in by default, since VDH is a glycerin based, melt, and pour soap. :tongue_sm

I didn't even think about the VanDerSpice guys. I don't have any VanDerSpice or I'd probably join you guys too. It will be interesting to read your experiences with this soap all week.

I'll try & stick to it, but there's a brand new puck of #88 that's calling my name... :w00t:

That is going to be pretty tough to resist, you could always use the #88 today and that way to only temptation is going to be to not use it all week! :001_smile

Day 1: QED Sandalwood. Every time I use this stuff I'm amazed at how incredible it smells. Too bad mine's almost gone. :crying: Good thing I have 2 more tubs in reserve! :w00t:

MB Lime shave stick today. I never fail to marvel at how well these glycerin soaps lather up. For whatever reason, they seem to lather more easily than the tallow or non-glycerin veggie based soaps. That said, the lathers aren't as slick or cushioned in my hands, but I do get great shaves from them, today being no exception.

This mornings shave consisted of:
TGQ Leatherneck lathered with a B&BE
Slant/Shark
Clubman Pinaud splash

followed by Polo Sport, oh yes I did :001_tt2: :yesnod:

I had a very nice shave, I'm sure that by the end of the week they will be even better.

Oh yeah! My tub of QED Sandalwood is almost gone as well - I have actually worn through the soap and can see the bottom of the tub. Luckily, I have two tubs in reserve as well ... whew.

I agree melt-and-pour soaps lather up like no bodies business. I used Honeybee Spa Tea Tree EO soap this morning. This is the first shave soap other than Williams or VDH that I used ... it is the reason I prefer soaps over creams. HBS remains my favorite melt-and-pour, but QED is a very close second. I prefer the performance of HBS over QED, but QED scents are epic.

Today's shave was a pretty typical HBS day, in other words, terrific :thumbup1:

SCS Orange Sorbet stick today. This stuff lathers great, but I need more time with this soap to really get it down. Nonetheless, a great shave topped off with Ogalla Bay Rum AS.

Gotta give it plenty of water, but slowly, working each new portion of water in until it is fully incorporated. Absolutely stellar if you can be patient with it.:thumbup1:

OK, I'm in. I will be rotating VDH Deluxe/Glycerin, Mama Bear Hydrogen, Honeybee Spa Jasmine and Honeybee Spa Hydrogen.

I'm in.
Today I made a superlather using Mama Bear Awakenings, and Ingram SC. It was a smooth shave with my 65' slim adjustable. Followed up with some witch hazel and polar ice aftershave.
