Head shaver

Razor: 1933 Gillette Tech razor
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (5)
Brush: Custom elk antler Boar

Pre-shave: Hot shower using Dr. Bronner's Peppermint on face and head with facial scrubber.

Lather: Arko stick
Bowl: N/A face lather

Passes: 2.75

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Grey Flannel
6 - Balm: LEA 3in1

Time from shower on to dressed and ready: 1hr.

NOTES: A real nice DFS+ shave. The 5th shave on the silver blue and it's done. I've not used a blade more than 4 times but figured this round I'm going to push each blade to 5 and for some, maybe beyond. The way I see it being a head shaver, it's like 10 shaves since I'm shaving more than double the area. Out of the 6 razors in rotation, the tech is my favorite. I'm glad it came up in the randomizer today. I did have some neck irritation but not sure why, otherwise no feedback or irritation.
Quality: 9.5
Comfort 8.75

Days growth: 4
Razor: Gillette Fatboy
Blade: Personna Med Prep (5)
Brush: Ever-Ready R40 Pure Badger - original
Pre-shave: Hot shower using Dr. Bronners Citrus on face and head with facial scrubber
Lather: Clubman Pinaud shave soap
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements blue/white
Passes: 3 - setting 6/6/6
Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Clubman reserve Whiskey Woods
6 - Balm: Nivea Sensitive Skin

NOTES: A real relaxing shave. I really like the Fatboy, I've only used it about 6 times since I got it for Christmas. The Med Prep blades are so sharp and smooth, they get along with my face very well. Forgot to adjust the razor down on the second and third passes but no irritation at all. Little to no feedback with the alum or aftershave.

Quality: 9.5
Comfort: 10.0
Overall: 9.75 DCS+

Time: 56min from shower on to dressed and ready.

Enjoyed reading through your diary, thanks for sharing.
One question though: I haven't seen microfibre towels in any other routine. Why microfibre? What's the extra that it does for you?

Jkaboom shaves his head. Microfibre is for post shave polishing.

Thanks @Ligeti and @lasta
I use the microfiber towel (about 8in x 8in) for good wipedowns, otherwise trying to rinse between passes makes so much mess for me. It also come in handy to wipe around underneath my neck and stuff from bending my head getting lather on places. I also use it to help grip my scalp to tighten the skin real well. And last, when I'm all done, I squeeze it out real well and give the counter and sink a quick wipe down.

I've not heard anyone using it either but it works great for the above.

Head shaver

Razor: Gillette Fatboy
Blade: Personna Med Prep (5)
Brush: Ever Ready 100 (Erskine??)

Pre-shave: Hot shower using Nablus soap on face and head with facial scrubber

Lather: Nablus soap - face lathered

Passes: 2.5 (9/3/3)

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - 4711 edt splash
6 - Balm: Kirkland organic extra virgin olive oil (about 15 drops for entire head and face)

Time from shower on to dressed and ready: 1hr 7min

NOTES: On the tail end of a cold so wanted something easy going and mild for four days of growth. Didn't shave until 5pm. I've not used that particular brush and not sure if it's Erskine or nylon. It's pretty stiff. I like the Nablus soap, very slick though not much cushion, about the consistency of Arko. Wanted to try olive oil as a post shave balm, I've heard of some people using it as a moisturizer. I like it pretty well but we'll see. I love the 4711, clean and mild. I never tried the Fatboy on 9 and figured with 4 days I'd give it a shot, very aggressive and efficient with the med prep even on its fifth shave. Mild to medium feedback from the alum. Light feedback from the 4711.

Olive oil was working for me, but I moved back to generic moisturizer crammed with menthol crystals. Used a few drops of olive oil to get pine pitch off my hands this afternoon.

Beautiful razor my friend. Though I have never tried it, I bet it would make an excellent head shaver, nice and mild yet VERY efficient shaver on my incredibly handsome face.

Head shaver

Razor: Gillette Super speed
Blade: Gillette Platinum (6) binned at end of shave
Brush: Vintage Ever Ready with original best badger knot.

Pre-shave: Hot shower using Dr. Brunner's Almond and bath puff all over head and face vigorously.

Lather: Tabac soap
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements blue/white

Passes: 2

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Tabac splash
6 - Balm: Nivea Sensitive Skin

NOTES: Tried the everything hot but using cold water on the razor. I will continue to test this. Today's shave was not very fun or good. I was on the 6th use of a Gillette Platinum which I consider 12th use since I am a head shaver as well. It was a little rough and draggy. I had a half dozen weepers. Had some pretty strong feedback from the alum in areas. Not really much feedback from the Tabac splash. This was supposed to have been a nice shave to get me in a good place for a very stressful marriage counseling meeting. Well it wasn't and did not. It was a SAS that was moderately uncomfortable.
