JKaboom's Journey DE shaving - started September 22'

Razor: 1940's Gillette Tech Razor
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Custom boar brush
Pre-shave: Hot shower using baby wash on face and head with facial scrubber
Lather: Face lather with Arko stick
Passes: 2

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Black Magic private collection alcohol free
6 - Balm: LEA 3in1

NOTES:I needed a mild shave today as my last couple shaves (one with the Dollartree DE razor) ended up causing some pretty big irritation. Waited 3 days to let things heal/calm down. Tried to bowl lather the Arko but it did not work well so I just face lathered. I saw a video that produced a great lather with nice peaks etc. I'll try again. 9/10 shave with very mild feedback from the alum and aftershave. I was not going for a bbs but got a great dfs with virtually no irritation.

Blade: Schick Super Chroomium (1)
Brush: Custom Elk antler Decemboar

Pre-shave: Hot shower using baby wash on face and head with facial scrubber

Lather: Colonel Conk Amber
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements blue/white

Passes: 2 on 2 day growth

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Clubman Citrus Musk
6 - Balm: Lea 3 in 1

Time:52.07

NOTES: First time using my nos Shcick Krona with a nos Schick Super Chromium blade. Super mild, more mild than my 1940's Gillette Tech razor. A bit too mild. At 38g and 10.4cm total height I found it too light and too long. It's a good enough razor and I'll use it occasionally but it won't make the rotation. The Colonel Conk lathered well and provided good cushion. I did not find it slick enough and the scent could have been a bit stronger. I wish it was a bit more moisturizing but it certainly did not dry my skin either. I love pretty much all the Clubman aftershaves. I like the Lea 3 in 1 very well. It's light, smells good, and moisturizes well. Very low feedback from the clubman and alum. 8/10.

Razor: Gillette Fatboy F1 1960 original
Blade: Personna med prep
Brush: Elk antler DecemBoar

Pre-shave: Hot shower using baby wash on face and head with facial scrubber

Lather: Tabac shave soap
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements blue/white

Passes: 2

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Tabac
6 - Balm: LEA 3in1

Time:57.34 (From shower to dressed)

NOTES: First time with my new Christmas Fatboy, it does live up to it's reputation as @alumladd said it would. It's a shame though, got it from the wife Christmas eve day and then decided to divorce her that evening due to a blow up. It just didn't work out after 2.5 years. Anyways smooth effortless shave, low feedback from alum and aftershave. DCS 9.0

How's that Black Magic aftershave?

How's that Black Magic aftershave?
It's not bad. No burn due to no alchohol. It has a mild floral scent. I'll probably buy another bottle when it runs out. That's one thing I like about all the barbershop type aftershave splashes, your on8out $10 at most if you don't like it. Let me know what you think if you buy a bottle.

Razor: 1960 F1 Fatboy
Blade:personna Med Prep (2)
Brush:parker WHSY synthetic

Pre-shave: Hot shower using baby wash on face and head with facial scrubber

Lather:Colonel Conk amber
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements blue/white

Passes:3 - setting 6/3/2

Post Shave Routine and products:

4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Marmara No. 14 splash
6 - Balm:Nivea sensitive skin

Time from shower on to dressed and ready: 1:04:23

NOTES: Good shave, only the second time using my fatboy and second time using the med prep. I liked it pretty well, one weeper and medium light feedback in places, not all over though. Second time using the Colonel Conk, first time I was not impressed with the lather. I read somewhere that it lathers better with a synthetic and it did so I'm happier about that. 9.5 DFS

Razor: Gillette Super Speed
Blade: Gillette Platinum (1)
Brush: Vielong Comte Black Horse Hair 24mm

Pre-shave: Hot shower using baby wash on face and head with facial scrubber

Lather: Proraso soap - red
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements blue/white

Passes: 3

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Black Magic
6 - Balm: LEA 3in1

Time from shower on to dressed and ready: 1:06

NOTES: I just love the larger and smell of all the Proraso creams and soaps. The Vielong is a good brush. The feel is definitely different from badger, boar, and synthetic. It's a great painter if you like that, but a fairly light exfoliator.. I've only used the Super Speed twice now. The razor and blade did well, I did have some technique issues. Mild feedback from the alum. I learn so much on each shave. 8.5/10

NOTES: First time using Proraso green cream, the menthol is nice but not overpowering, smells nice and clean too. The brush was great overall though it did not have a lot of backbone. Virtually no feedback from the alum or Osage rub.

Maybe I should give this head shaving thing a try. 1h49m of daily Velcro therapy does sound tempting!

LOL, those dang emojis from the syntax...
It was 1 he and like 4 or 7 minutes. I really enjoy the whole experience now verses my former fusion cartridges.

It used to take me 46 minutes from shower on to dressed (I take my time and just use it as morning relaxation).

Right now, I'm very deliberate and trying to get my techniques down. DE shaving is very different to me but I love it!

Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Schick super chromium (2)
Brush: Parker chrome badger

Pre-shave: Hot shower using baby wash on face and head with hands

Lather: Nivea shave stick
Bowl: N/A face lather

Passes: 2

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Nivea deep
6 - Balm: Tried without balm but needed it about 45 minutes post shave - Nivea sensitive skin

Time from shower on to dressed and ready: 1hr 2min

NOTES: A solid shave 8.5/10. Comfort 8.0, had some burn from the alum and aftershave. Quality 9.0, pretty close shave with very few pickups. The Nivea shave stick lathers well and smells good. It's a little drying but the Nivea balm knocked the burn and dryness out cold.

Razor: No name
Blade: Personna lab blue
Brush: Parker synthetic WHSY

Pre-shave: Hot shower using baby wash on face and head with facial scrubber

Lather: Tabac
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements blue/white

Passes: 3

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Tabac
6 - Balm: Headlube spf50

Time from shower on to dressed and ready: 1hr 6min

NOTES: I love the Tabac soap and splash, they smell amazing and the soap lathers great! This was the second time with the no name razor and I discovered that it did not hold the blade evenly. I'm keeping the handle but tossing the head. I'm not interested in a razor that I have to worry about holding the blade correctly. Maybe this is my error but my other 3pc. a 1930's Gillette tech holds the blade correctly every time without me needing to pay special attention. This is the first time using the Personna lab blue and I like it, smooth blade, no irritation. I made a mistake and nicked myself.

Razor: Van Der Hagen TTO 85mm razor
Blade: Rapira super stainless (1)
Brush: Custom elk antler boar

Pre-shave: Hot shower using baby wash on face and head with facial scrubber

3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1

6 - Balm: LEA 3 in1

Time from shower on to dressed and ready: 1 hr 4 min

NOTES: A real nice shave. The Van Der Hagen blades are terrible so I tried the Rapira Super Stainless and I was very happy with the Van Der Hagen handle. It is milder than I like but handles well. I haven't used my Arko in a while and it worked well especially with my boar brush.
