I saw this mug and laughed, then thought that it would make a funny shaving mug...

It says "Jesus Shaves", and when you add hot water his beard disappears. But it looks like he's using a cartridge razor, so I guess it wouldn't be appropriate...:bored:

Then I showed my wife and she thought people would find it offensive. Really? I argued that I'm sure Jesus probably shaved at some point in his life. He at least trimmed his beard since he wasn't known for having a ZZ-Top beard that went to his belly button.

This was a debate I never would have had if shaving wasn't a hobby of mine!!

I don't find it offensive but I can see why some might.

I have some drink glasses where the buxom ladies "un-necessaries" disappear when the glass is filled.

some people find this offensive also but again I don't :001_smile

I don't know that he would have shaved. It would depend on his particular sect of Judaism whether or not removing facial hair with a razor was permissable. Admittedly there were times when he defied orthodoxy so....who knows? I suppose if the Deity didn't want us to laugh He (She or It) wouldn't have made us ticklish or so inclined to do ridiculous things. Removing a significant portion of our remarkably sparse fur from a body part commonly exposed to the weather even as winter approaches may be one of those ridiculous things. But, like a lot of ridiculous things (I have Lord Chesterfield's famous epigram in mind), it can be a source of pleasure.

I'm not offended and don't see why anybody really should be. God does have a sense of humor and its not as if Jesus is depicted doing anything sinful. But I digress, not offensive nor all that funny but that is probably just because it doesn't match my sense of humor.

I'm not offended, and I do find it a bit funny. I can however see where some might take offense. That would be an interesting addition to a shave den though.

As an ex minister and a PK, I think it's funny. But, Jesus wouldn't have to shave, he could just touch his beard and it would disappear leaving it smooth as silk.

That would explain how he wouldn't have problems with cartridge razors... any irritation or razor burn and he can lay his healing hands on the redness. Though I guess the real question is... would he use the VEG??

I'm down, after all, that is my image! Being raised Jewish he probably didn't shave, but he must have at least trimmed every now and again.

Still could trim his beard as mentioned :)

+1

"...not offended and don't see why anybody really should be...not offensive..."

The offense is that it trivializes Jesus Christ. It trivializes the salvation message that Jesus saves (sinners from the due punishment for their sins). It's not God honoring and does not afford the honor and respect that is due, that which we can just barely comprehend. It's just cheap "humor".
